Fall
I'm really starting to enjoy this time of year now...the colors of the changing leaves, waving in the sunlight...the cool, but not-too-cold-yet, temperature...the smell of the season in the air.
Happy Fall.

shhh....please....just....stop talking
Don't you love it when you're trying to buy something in a store, but before you are allowed to pay ("here! I have actual money! in my hand! take it!"), the retail clerk first has to reel off some rehearsed corporate script in an attempt to "upsell" you and try to get you to spend even more money buying stuff you need even less than whatever it is you're already buying (which is hard to believe...until you hear those fateful words..."Would you like to buy our Extended Warranty Plan for that Winnie the Pooh nail clipper?").
Now I've worked in retail before, and so I know it's their job, and not really their fault, because they're pretty much forced into reading this little script like 500 times a day, or else they risk losing that precious and highly coveted minimum wage/no benefits/mind numbingly repetitive job working for the corporate bohemoth.
But still.......it bothers me just the same.
Maybe it's just me, but...wherever I am, whatever I am doing, I would like the person in front of me to be an actual human being with some degree of warmth and thought and personality, rather than some sort of robot who's speech is made up of nothing but ad copy.
I guess I'm just picky like that.
So, please do me a favor and think about this before the next time you try to "suggestive sell" me on the incredible value of that Super-Duper-Popcorn-Tub-Combo, which will enable me to buy not 1 but 2! Giant Tubs of popcorn for only 12 and 1/2 cents more than the one tub alone would have cost me.
Oh, be still my beating heart...

More Credit or More Happiness?...hmmm...tough one.
So I saw this credit report commercial on tv...and it kind of annoyed me.
Big surprise.
Anyway, in it there’s this guy who’s alone with his girlfriend in their small apartment...and here are the lyrics to the song he sings...
“Well, I married my dream girl
I married my dream girl
But she didn't tell me her credit was bad
So now instead of living in a pleasant suburb
We're living in the basement at her mom and dad's
No we can't get a loan
For a respectable home
Just because my girl defaulted on some old credit card
If we'd gone to free credit report dot com
I'd be a happy bachelor with a dog and a yard.”
Ok, the living with the parents might not be ideal, but still...this commercial is just beyond me.
I mean...if you’ve met your “dream girl”(or boy)...
Someone who you just really like...and who really likes you...and you’re getting to just enjoy being with them and hanging out....
Why, for one second, would you really give a Flying F#*K about a credit score?????
Seriously, the idea is LAUGHABLE.
These same people have done some other commercials too...
I actually kind of like the one that takes place at the Renaissance Festival in the countryside...it’s supposed to be saying how it sucks cuz the only place that didn’t care about the guy’s credit was at a Ren. Fest...but really all it did was make me want to hang out and groove at a Ren. Fest
(Although I’d probably try to talk the Ren. Fest people into giving up the turkey legs for tofurky jerky or something
)
I saw another one of the commercials where the guy’s riding around in a tiny beat-up car with a bunch of his friends...
And that just reminded me of “Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist”...which, a few things aside, was actually a pretty cool movie...and reminds me of how nice it is to just knock around in a car with a bunch of close friends who really care about you.
So, to sum up.....let me see if I’ve got this right.....if I let my credit score crash.....I will...get to be with an amazing girl...a bunch of awesome friends...and hang out in the countryside?
Sweet!!!!!
Why didn’t somebody tell me?...I would have done this sooner!

Rainy. Windy. Day.
A good day for drinking tea.
And sitting on the porch.
Listening. Watching. Dreaming.

Runnin' Down a Dream (Tom Petty;)
I've been trying to get back into exercising lately..running mostly
, along with some push-ups/sit-ups, etc..just to feel fit again (I used to be a fairly decent athlete back in the day, although always super-duper slim).
Anyways, I've been thinking about it some, and I think I'd probably be open to exercising alongside someone else, if anyone's interested.
It could be fun, assuming we're relatively friendship-compatible
, and probably pretty motivating too.
Anyway, if anyone's interested, let me know.

Vegan Ice Cream (Not strictly for the Birds)
Hey,
Haven't posted here in a bit, so I thought I'd throw this out:
If you like Ice Cream, or just yumm comfort food, or you're vegan-ish, you might want to try a vegan ice cream cookbook by Wheeler Del Torro called "The Vegan Scoop".
I'm not even a big ice cream person, but everything I've made out of it has been ridiculously good. Good enough that it's totally worth picking up an ice cream maker.
On a sidenote...did you know that a group of Larks is called an "Exultation" of Larks? How cool is that?

Movie Recommendation
I saw the movie “Milk” the other day.
Although this movie is not perfect, and a bit morbid in parts for my liking...Overall, if you haven’t seen it, I think it is well worth seeing.
Recommended.

It's gorgeous again outside...I hope you find some time to enjoy it.
You sometimes forget how good it feels until you get out there again.
