How to Text a Man and Keep His Attention

How to Text a Man and Keep His Attention

Texting with men can be tricky. While they do text, they're not as into it as women are, so keeping their attention might require a little more thought and work. Here are 3 ways that you can text a man and keep his attention.

1. Keep it short

A text isn't an email and it definitely isn't a novel, so keep your texts short and sweet. If you write long texts, you're bound to lose any man's attention. He doesn't want to read a long message and then reply to it. Never pour your feelings about complicated situations into a text message. Texts are meant to be short.

2. Wait and then reply

Go ahead and read that text he just sent you, but don't reply immediately. Replying right away makes you look like you have no life or were just waiting for him to text you. You don't want to appear to always be checking your phone. Waiting also gives you time to think of a great reply. The longer you wait, the more he'll wonder what you're up to. You'll pique his interest in your life. You don't need to wait days to reply, of course, but waiting even just an hour or two is better than replying in five seconds.

3. Give him something to reply to

If you don't ask him anything, he might not reply to your text. If a man, or anyone, doesn't have anything to say, they won't reply to a text. Remember that you don't need to constantly be texting with someone. Sometimes not texting for a few days gives you more to talk about when you do. If you want to get the conversation started again, ask him something about himself. Or ask him to teach you something he's good at like surfing or billiards. That will definitely get his attention.

4. Flirt, but don't go too far

Flirting is a great way to show your interest in a man via text message. It would be hard for a man to ignore a flirty text if he's interested in you. Be sure that you don't let playful flirting go too far though. It's easy for this to happen when you're not face to face... and it's also easy to get the wrong impression. So if he starts texting you back with inappropriate lines, you want to nip it in the bud. Playing hard to get isn't always the answer to getting a man's attention. If he thinks you're not as interested as you are, he might stop replying. Don't be afraid to flirt a little, as long as it stays respectful and appropriate.

Texting can be a great way to connect with a man, but you have to think like a man does.

I like number 3. It relates to both men and women.

Some text and expect a reply, when their texts are just information that may or may not need a reply. Then they wonder why there is no reply.

Nice, informative and helpful thanks. As a woman mens thinking is probably as mysterious as a woman's is to a man ;-)
