5 Relationship Mistakes You Might Be Making

Sometimes the things we think we are doing out of love are really not. Sometimes they are done out of jealousy, control, or simply contentment. Here are 5 relationship mistakes that you don't want to make.

1. You spy on your boyfriend

If you have no reason to be suspicious of your partner's behaviour, spying on him could put an end to your relationship. People do not want to feel like they are never trusted. If you find yourself checking your boyfriend's Facebook page or sneaking a peek in his phone while he's in the shower, it's time to get a new hobby. People don't like to feel like someone is always looking over their shoulder.

2. You want to be with him 24/7

It might seem like this is a great quality when you're in a relationship, but it's never good to be clingy. It's good to want to spend quality time with your boyfriend, but don't expect him to be by your side all the time. It's important that you both spend quality time with your friends. It's unhealthy to want to make your boyfriend your entire world.

3. You forget the romance

Whether you've been dating for two years or married for fifty, it's important to maintain the romance. Don't grow too comfortable that it makes you stop trying to impress your boyfriend. It's important for couples to continue celebrating their love, no matter how long it's been. Remember when you were first dating and celebrating events with enthusiasm and try to get back into that frame of mind.

4. You create unhealthy expectations

Your boyfriend has just moved in with you and you are so happy to have a handy man around the house. You finally have someone to cook delicious meals and clean up your pigsty of a house because you are not a domestic goddess. One of the worst relationship mistakes you can make is assuming that your boyfriend will be taking on a role simply because you don't want to.

5. You expect him to read your mind

People are not mind readers, so expecting your boyfriend to look at you and know exactly what you want is a little crazy. Just because he is your boyfriend doesn't mean he knows what you are thinking and feeling. If you want your boyfriend to know something, tell him. Getting mad at him for not knowing will only strain your relationship. Mind-reading is not a symptom of love.

If you're making any of the previous mistakes in your relationship, there is good news. You can change your behaviour immediately. Don't wait until it's too late and the damage is already done.
