7 Positive Affirmations for a Happier Life

Although everyone needs time for complete silence to meditate, it's equally important to hear positive messages on a regular basis. Most people hear not only criticism from others, but also from their own inner voices that remind them they aren't good enough, thin enough or rich enough. We need to stop beating ourselves up and give ourselves a break. By reflecting on positive messages, a person can make the truth of the message a reality. Self-actualized people realize that everything in their lives works perfectly for the greater purpose. Each individual has a destiny that can be free of fear and self-hatred. To get in tune with the positive energy and light that waits, a person may repeat positive affirmations each day.

I take care of myself

People who let themselves go, by overeating, binging on drugs or alcohol and neglecting their grooming and basic health needs are expressing anger toward themselves in a destructive way. By repeating this positive affirmation, a person begins to acknowledge the truth that his or her life has a purpose and is meaningful.

I let go of control

Psychologists often say people who are controlling were not given enough choices as children. People who need to take control experience unnecessary stress. By letting go of control, a person releases the stress and weighty responsibilities. When a person unclenches their hands to let go of control, they are essentially opening up their hands in a gesture of trust to receive peace.

I live in the present

When a person lives in the past, they are typically thinking about all the mistakes they made. Someone who lives in the future is simply worrying about what may or may not happen. By living in the moment, a human being can truly live in the truth that is now.

I get the help I need

A lot of people think it's a sign of weakness to ask for help. Some Americans think they have to be completely independent and self-sufficient as part of living in a democracy. In the spiritual world, no one lives a life that is independent from others. The tapestry of life involves hundreds and thousands of connections between people. One person may smile at a stranger, who then feels inspired to donate money to a charity. The circle of giving and sharing continues on.

Time is on my side

Instead of worrying about running out of a time, an evolved soul knows that there is a time for everything. Each soul has been given an allotted amount of time on earth. Each person has enough time to fulfill his or her purpose in this life. By repeating this positive affirmation, a stressed-out person will learn to relax and let his or her life flow more easily.

I make wise choices

Being wise is not the same thing as being intelligent or witty. Piscean men and women are often called "wise old souls," but anyone can become wise. Wise people aren't impetuous. They use reason and rationality as well as their intuition to make choices each day. People who use sound judgment often avoid heartache and pain that isn't constructive as they walk on their paths.

I give thanks

Enlightened souls know that wise people forgive themselves and others as well as give thanks for the blessings of this life. People who get in the habit of being grateful for all that they have and will have in the future are more likely to receive greater blessings in the future. People who think they are unfortunate can start by being thankful for the small things.

Instead of setting material goals for the New Year, many people experience greater success by contemplating all that is good. Positive affirmations will eventually reach the subconscious mind, which is the ultimate goal. Once the subconscious mind accepts the positive ideas about reality, it will then nudge the person to act in such a way to fulfill the "prophesy."
