How to Get Your Boyfriend Back

Looking for advice to get an exboyfriend back? The best way for a woman to behave is with affectionate dignity. Arrogant coldness is no answer, and neither is attempting to make him jealous. But tearful, gushing neediness is a huge turn off as well. What is the best way to handle such things as replying to his texts, apologizing for hurting him and so on.

Most of us have been there at some point: the sleepless nights, the tearful conversations with friends, the plummeting self-esteem and, worst of all, the conviction that we are doomed to grow old alone in a house full of cats! Sometimes, of course, you just have to face reality and let him go. Perhaps he simply has no feelings for you. Perhaps your friends were right when they warned you that you were ill-suited. But if not, if you are certain that he was 'the one', you must fight to get him back.

When seeking to repair a relationship you must retain your dignity. Most women find a weeping, begging, needy man a huge turn-off, and men are no different. Men do not find a woman who cries and pleads for them to return flattering. Instead, the majority feel awkward, embarrassed and even a little revolted. Never phone him late at night when drunk, lonely and desperate! If you were responsible for the break-up then it is up to you to make the first move. But if not, if the two of you simply had a nasty squabble about money or sex, give him a little space. Don't pester him with emails and phone calls asking him to explain "where we went wrong". If you do that, not only will you irritate him, but he will believe you are asking so as to avoid the same mistakes in your next relationship.

However, do not go too far in the opposite direction. Excessive pride is fatal during a relationship split. Anyone who tells themselves "he will come crawling back when he realizes what he has lost" is unlikely to enjoy much success. The best impression to give is one of sad dignity. For example, if he sends you a sudden, unexpected text message late one night, pause before you respond. Ask yourself why he is texting. He may be feeling lonely and simply want someone to talk to. Do not reply with a long, gushing message about how much you miss him. But don't be cold and unfriendly either. Wait for at least twenty minutes and then text something affectionate but vague. Let him know you still have feelings for him, but make it clear that you are not prepared to be a temporary fix for his loneliness.

If you were entirely to blame for the break-up, it is vital you let him know you are sincerely sorry. A drunken, tearful phone call in the early hours of Saturday morning is inappropriate. In his mind he will dismiss your apology as a lot of alcohol-fuelled nonsense. Meet him somewhere public but quiet where the two of you can relax. When you apologize, either make it from the heart or don't bother. Few things are more offensive to a proud man than to be hurt and then apologized to in an obviously insincere manner. Take his hand, look into his eyes and, without drama or tears, softly but firmly tell him how sorry you are. Listen to what he then has to say. Don't just wait for him to finish so you can recite the little speech you have prepared.

Finally, do not try to make him jealous. Flirting and even sleeping with other men is not the answer. Attempting to punish and hurt your man this way will not be forgoitten. If he really loves you, and the two of you try again, he may find it difficult to come to terms with what you did.
