Relationships can be work during the best of times, but you may be doing things that are causing your relationships to fail without realizing it. Some of your common relationship habits might actually be bad for your relationships. Here are 4 reasons you might be failing at your relationships.
Every one of your ex-boyfriends may have been a jerk, but that is no excuse for treating your new boyfriend like a criminal. Let his actions speak for themselves. If he acts like a bad boyfriend, dump him and move on. If he hasn't done anything wrong, don't treat him like he eventually will. By treating him like he's already been a bad boyfriend, you are pushing him away.
It's normal to want a fantasy-like relationship, but if you're expecting boyfriends to act like prince charming, you're going to be disappointed. Heroes in books and movies are written to be perfect. Even their flaws seem sexy. Real life doesn't work that way. If you expect a movie-like hero to sweep you off your feet, you will remain unhappy and disappointed in relationships.
If you can't let go of the past and the hopes you had for a previous relationship, it will be difficult for you to happily move on in a new relationship. At some point you need to move on from relationships that are finished. Don't run back to your ex in between new relationships no matter how much you might want to.
If you're dating someone, you can't expect all of his time to be spent with you. Your boyfriend is still allowed to have his own life outside of you. Being dependent and clingy are not attractive qualities. Being confident and having a life of your own is attractive. Avoid texting and calling him too much when you're not together. No one likes all of their time to be controlled by someone else.
If you have trouble making relationships work, you might be committing one of the above offences. By changing your relationship habits, you can find a good relationship and make it work.
