What Peter was saying there was this the Spirit bears a conscience of right and wrong. Ok you can have an experience with God in Spirit leave it there with no root and go into the world and well lose that really quick because you left it there instead of living salvation you made it one experience and carry a false confidence with that one experience.
Paul said right there, well they didn't seem to think it was worthwhile the knowledge of Christ arrogant and cocky loose confidence and well end up to step one slave to sin. Well reason you have people singing ohhh get back up yadda yadda yadda. That's good I don't believe in beating yourself up either. But the secret is you don't have to go there.

Why did He say that???? The Lord was not doing that in an act of humility He has explaining salvation again. Ok start here we are all pigs and dogs. Don't use it as an excuse to be nutty and over sinful and bad or whatever it is some do these days. Ok I go into the world or just at home I'll be exposed to sin and thought of sin and sure I'll sin in that day. Ok that will separate me from the Lord, so gotta make the habit of understanding exposure to sin and shame, you are going to get dirty and maybe lose conscience. ((((Just the way it is))))
Ok piggy and doggy's time to get washed in the Spirit of God everyday and with that I think the Lord is big enough to root you into a saint and not a ((slave to sin)) a sinner<<<<defined.
