Guess what tonight is.
Go ahead and guess.I'll wait.
Alright, I'll tell you.
Today is Halloween.
Yes, I know it's SUPPOSED to be October 31st.
But, due to Hurricane Sandy,
things got delayed quite a bit around here.
It seems mother nature had an impressive trick
up her sleeve this year.
It's a shame for many reasons,
least of which, I actually bought a costume this year
and a sign to hang on the door.
But, with all the chaos, didn't bother with either.
The sign simply says, "Insane Asylum"
Yes, I know some of you feel its quite appropriate.
The costume is of a
Yes, I know that some of you.....
Anyway, I got my first & second set of 'trick or treaters,
a short while ago.
The first one was probably about a 12 year old boy dressed as...
OK, I have no clue what he was dressed as.
But, we was dressed up for Halloween.
Maybe he was supposed to be a punk rocker, not sure.
Anyway, since he was a bit older than most kids trick & treating,
I had to tease him a bit.
I answered the door with...."Yes, can I help you ?"
Of course his reply was "Trick or Treat"
His father stood about 20 feet behind him off the front steps.
So, I replied. "Oh no, you can't fool me. Halloween was last week."
He was....speechless
While he looked down, I shot a smile to his dad,
to make sure he knew I was teasing his son.
Then I said to the boy, "what is it that you want ?"
His reply was simple, "CANDY".
So I said, "yeah, me too" and looking down into his bag
I said "and I'm really glad you brought me some"
With that he looked up at me in shock
and after a short pause, I said
"just kidding, do you want Nestles Crunch, or Butterfinger ?"
"Butterfinger"
I was a lot easier on the second set of smaller kids.
Perhaps it was 3 siblings and their mom.
Hard to tell because they all wore masks.
They were very cute dressed as little ghouls.
I acted afraid and told them,
"here take my candy, just leave me my soul !"
They were very sweet, each saying "thank you"
In between writing this, I just got my third set of kids.
I waved to the mom who stayed in the car.
There were 3 young girls. The youngest (~4) is dressed
as Supergirl, the middle one is dressed as a princess,
and the oldest (~7) is dressed as a bumble bee.
So, I just ran around my porch repeating "don't sting me, I'm allegic !" All 3 girls laughed.
Scored - 2 butterfingers and a Nestles.
What are you dressing up as tonight ?
And which do you want; Butterfinger or Nestles Crunch ?
Happy (belated) Halloween everyone !
