spirit
I am man
you try to ride me
crop in your hand
soon you are lying
your face in the sand
I'm a wild spirit
I cannot be ridden
you'll never rein me in
though I may be put through paces
it only lasts so long
then I will buck
and I shall throw you off
and then be quickly gone
you will never saddle me down
your spurs are no match
for the fire in my soul
should you spur me
then you spurn me
I will bite you
then gallop away
there'll be no harness on me
no bit in my mouth
you may mount me
but only for so long
my nostrils flare at the sight
of one atop me
if you ride me too hard
soon, you'll be traveling alone
you tried to break me
til I woke and opened my eyes
it's obvious that you don't know me
I am man
climb atop me
I shall carry you
should you fall off
I will follow you down
and lay with you
upon the welcome ground
for a fruit offered me
a harvest is returned
tenderness will e'er be paid in kind
give me sugar
to you I will be true
I swear to carry with me always
a sweet spot for you too
for I am man
my heart belongs to you
