wish you were here. those who have love for music

So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell,
blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
And did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?
How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have you found? The same old fears.
Wish you were here.

I live in the east. my kid lives in the west. once, I used some of these lyrics in a letter to her. 'course knowing the tune, and she perhaps not, lost in translation could enter. but in our case, magically, nothing was lost. we were together.

A great poem, indeed. Probably my favourite Pink Floyd tune as well. Why did you feel the need to post it?

I posted these lyrics because it goes back to my past. When I am having any feelings good or bad, I will always crank this song. It holds a place in my heart.
