loves' fade
It's a dark and dreary morning
again, I find myself alone
as though I turned a page from happiness
to a chapter not unknown
but though it has familiar feeling
it's not a welcome circumstance
my head's begun to spin
how could I think I'd ever win?
had dwelt in the magic land of feeling
where we held each other near
now that moment's disappeared
I wake and see you sleeping
and wonder where we are
in loves' journey, steps are steeping
as though we'll never get that far
like a vision quickly fading
it seems you're slipping from me
I cannot hold you tight
why did we close our eyes last night?
was a brief and tender moment
our hearts had filled with love
til the rains washed from above
I suppose I must recapture
that enchanting spell of joy
deemed forever to elude me
my emotions, but a toy
I only kiss your memory
your caresses fill my mind
why must it all be left behind?
with the daybreak comes the heartache
and the gulf between we two
I'm no longer part of you
