Bushwalking
...some of you might refer to it as "hiking"...but for Australians, we 'bushwalk'. I spent many years doing this as way of relaxing, forgetting about the week I had just had... and then, things changed in my life and I changed one simple pleasure for another. I know what you are thinking here... No, I did NOT call Mike simple. But the pleasure for me is to go walking through nature. The serenity is captivating... it brings a calmness and you can lose yourself in this environment.
My last day off for the weekend meant that I had the day to myself... and whilst I should be doing housework, I justified that my ironing and washing were done... and I drove to a Lyrebird Walk nearby. There were only a few other individuals using the track, a couple of runners ...who barely interrupted my solitude as they rushed past ... and a family with children that were using the trail to see which brother could beat which. I am not even sure their parents had time to enjoy the solitude as they raced to keep up. But they were very polite; they all said hello as they passed.
After finishing this walk... I headed to the local country town to have a coffee. I was given good advice to try a café there... and the recommendation certainly came through for me... the coffee was the best I have ever had. Organic coffee beans. Barista serving. Clean machines. What an incredible way to end my day.

I am glad to see you! btw; Bushwalking is a good name for hiking! um!Soooo! Mike is a brush!... jk.
I had no idea you perused the blogs...it's nice to see you.
I find there is something incredible about being out in nature and losing yourself in it. I really enjoyed today... I must make more time for it.
Great pics....plan on doing the same here.
I have called Mike many things, but never a 'brush'... hmmm, not sure what to make of that... Use him for my hair?
I recall once when I was in Texas with a friend and he suggested going 'hiking' ... I looked at him and said, "Bushwalking, you mean?"... He laughed at me and told me I was a weird Australian.
America certainly has some amazing places to explore. I haven't been to Michigan, but I am assured there are some amazing places. I loved Texas, Oregon, Washington, Wyoming ... and a few other states. The parks there are just beautiful.
I am sorry to hear you haven't been well. You may come with me :) I know how important nature is to you.
300-500 km's ... that would be a weeks worth of hiking? That is incredible... How many individuals participate in this activity?
This area has lovely trees, but it simply depends on what area of Australia you live in. Beach areas have scrub-like trees.
... Although I must say, a tea party sounds lovely!
I recall walking through Maple leaves in Canada in Autumn and I loved that crunching sound... and the quiet... the cold... It all felt rather surreal.
An interesting word. Bushwalk, that is. Here in SA, when you talk about hiking, the first thing that comes to mind is hitching a ride.
Beautiful pics. Thank you for sharing. Happy to see all is well! Enjoy the rest of your day!
Catfoot ... Yes, we call that hitch-hiking too, Cat. The terminology appears to be a bit different in every country.
Recently I discovered that the spider we call the "huntsman" is called a "common rainspider" where you are.
Bajanshay ... Hello there, Bajanshay. You are most welcome. It's delightful to be able to share the photos. As for the rest of my day... well it was the last day I had off before returning to work. It was "Oh sooooo goood" being able to relax for three days. :)
The bird doesn't lie--it mimics---and whilst I didn't see one on this walk. I have seen them on other walks. They are a beautiful bird.
Thank you for stopping in. I like 'bushwalking' anywhere in the world... I love nature. But I am very fond of the Australian landscape. There is so much more for me to see yet.
Less is more.
Yes the lyrebird is pretty amazing i was making a bit of a joke although in this case (lyre )in lyrebird is the musical instrument after which its called because of the shape of its tail when they make a display
