A Pigment Of The Imagination

If you could give all people the same skin color, not a single race will disappear from our planet. The differences between us are for too great. It is almost as if we evolved on different planets and were all put together as part of some bizarre experiment.help

But what is race? If you dress a Frenchman and a German in identical American suits you will not be able to tell who is what. They are of different nationalities but of the same race. Now you dress a Chinese man and an Englishman in the same suits and you will immediately know they are from different races; even if the Chinese man was born in England.uh oh

The country of your birth does not determine your race, only your nationality.professor

I was born in Africa and my family have been here for more than 350 years. I am still not an African. While I may have some African and Malaysian blood in my veins, it is too little and too far back. I am European, no matter how you look at me.grin

There are many nations in Africa. The people from Ghana may look very similar to Nigerians and may differ somewhat from the Xhosa people of South Africa but they have much more in common as a race than what separates them.hmmm

Indians and Pakistanis are Asians but they look very much different than the Japanese. Are they of the same race? I think not. What about the native people of Australia, New Zealand and America; where do they fit into the picture?dunno

I can go on like this for hours but it will serve no purpose. blah

What is for certain is that the color of your skin is only one very small characteristic of your race. The main components peculiar to your race is above your shoulders.idea

You cannot tell race by looking at a person’s hands, feet, genitals or any other body part but show your face and we will immediately know what you are.thumbs up

Since god set the differences in skin color, race, nationality, then they should be recognized and respected, right?
All it matters is that we are all ONE, regardless of skin colour, nationality, race, cultural background etc...peace

I think we were all put here, as you say, as an "experiment": to learn to live in peace & harmony. Halleluya.

Hi Catfoot
I don´t really know what I am. And to be honest couldnt care less. I like to think I belong to the human race. In winter I am very white and pale. When summer comes and if i go in sun (I love sun )I can turn very brown. Maybe I am some mixed human, no clue tho.
Have a great day
Catfoot

There is only one race in this world

'The Human Race'.wave
Cat foot- nice blog thumbs up hope you are doing well at the moment I blue due to cold I have got when I am here. So am I what?? Blue lagoon?laugh laugh laugh
Hi Spring
Yes, As humans we are all the same. We all have the same features that separate us from other species and and such we should respect each other.

No problem about the larger font. My eyes are old.

bungallow I so totally agree with you

Hi Dad...

yes we can tell what their race when we see their look. American, Ausi and NZ we can say caucasian or European.
Indonesia and Malaysia in same race - Melayu.
or other country with their characteristic.

only one country I quite confuse is Turkey. After many time I visited that country, I could see many looks I found there.. some of them/region look like caucasian, some of them/region look like Arabian, but some of them/region not look like both...
IMO, maybe because the Turkish state is located between the continents of Europe and Asia and middle east... so what race we should say in general ?confused
Hi Jarred,
What is the point in being born free when we are taxed to death.
laugh rolling on the floor laughing
Hi Queen
It is very easy to see what you are. A suntan in summer does not change your race. And I'm sorry but humans are not a race. We are a species consisting of many races.
hug wave
Hi Bung
The is no human race. We are a species and to pretend that we are all the same is silly. Even a small child can notice the differences between races. The importance is that we should respect our difference. No race is superior to another. We may be equal but not the same.

Hi Zeurich
Blue Lagoon? I would not have minded to be marooned on an island with Brooke Shields in her heyday.
laugh rolling on the floor laughing
Catfoot see I told you no clue what I am and me thinking I was human
never mind I know for a fact I´m a happy idiot
(wonder what race that is)
Hi Smarty
There are many countries like that. The nation need not be of the same race. Look at the USA; many races make up the population of the USA. And you get Englishman and Frenchman who look like Africans. Races are no longer bound to certain regions.

Queen
I did not imply that you are not a human. And I repeat. Humans are a species, not a race. Our race does not make us inferior or superior to any other race, only different.
well.... when we look at black man, even though they are living in USA or other country, we can say or they say "I am africa", or Chinese, they live in every countries but still we can say or they say "I am chinese". in Turkey also many Korean live there and we can recognize they are korean.

that's just one of prove the riches of Turkey.. dunno
Catfoot sorry I know you didnt I did. so if humans isnt a race its a spice then according to me there is only the human spice. Not sure I will understand this but i might later on if I think about it
We are all the same people or Mitakuye Oyasin as the Native Americans says it. This is a say I love, because it is so true, we are all the same people, we are all relatives.
I use to have a contest with myself out here on the Photo Gallery. I look at a person and try to guess what land this person does come from by the way he looks and I am right must of the time.

But beside having fun with this,
Mitakuye Oyasin
is the words to remember for all of us!yay teddybear hug

Let's look at the animals world. All dogs are one species but amongst dogs you get many different races, also called breeds. We don't pretend that dog races are all the same, so why do we want to pretend that human races are all the same? There is no disgrace in being different. After all, people belonging to the same race differ. That is how we recognize each other. Because, although we share the same looks, we are not the same.

Queen,
As white as I am, one of my four maternal great grandmothers was black. Two generations earlier two others were Malaysian. There was a big shortage of women in the country and a large number of Malaysian 'brides' were imported. Mostly orphans.

humanitarian agenda. Nice to read your blog. thumbs up

All cats say meow.
I like good blog where we can learn something new... Where people really express their opinion and I always see that different opinion is always enriching our knowledge...

Ow I remember one case :

Algerian, lybian, tunisian, Moroccan, egytian... What race are they? African or arab ? Their first languages are arab, second language is french, they look european (most of them) and they are angry when I told them that they are african as geographically the countries located in africa continent....
Hi Bhadra.
You're always welcome my friend.
cheers wave
Catfoot that is so what I mean we are so mixed so we are more or less one species Call it what you like One Human Race will do for me. Not going to complicate it I am not that clever
Hi Queen
Be that as it may but I can tell that you and I are of the same race and we are not Chinese, African or Native American. People will shake their heads in disbelieve if we should make such claim.
We have had different races for millenniums and no matter how much we intermarry, we will still have different races in 2000 years from now. We will never all become the same.
heya cat i think i am getting the gist of the blogs to b very sillysheep sheep
Cat,suppose you were asked to choose a colour for everyone on earth, which colour would you choose and
why?
Hi India
I would like us to be like chameleons to blend with our environment. Failing that, green with brown freckles.

It will save a lot of trouble having to camouflage ourselves when we go to war.doh

What one person find to be silly may proof to be very interesting or amusing to another. It is the diversity of the blogs that makes it so popular.

Cat Interesting blog ! I am Irish but don't have red hair or freckles.... I think I could easily tell the difference between a German and a French man, or italian, Dutch in a Uniform, there are sublte and not so subtle differences in eyes, features, hair colour and texture. Africans ? even with white skin and blonde hair t hey have their own unique features. I love the diversity and wish we could all get on together, we all have to live on the same Earth and if there wasnot greed or bigotry, there would be room enough, and enough food for all.thumbs up happy place
Hi Ken
thanks but I have a small difference in opinion about recognizing Americans.

You only need to look at them when they smile. No other nation can smile as broad and as handsomely as the Americans. It is an art mastered to perfection by the Americans. grin

Hi GG
Yes, that is my point. there is not a single trait that determines your race. It is the combinations of several characteristics that does it. I have seen 'African' four albinos in my life. White skins, blue eyes and straw colored hair but there was no way you could make a mistake about their race.
hug wave
head banger Hey! GG.
......................hug
Hi Angel
But then Creole is also a very loose term. You got French Creoles, Spanish Creoles, Black Creoles and what else.

Originally it was any person of African or European (mostly French or Spanish) descent, born and raised in the West Indies or parts of French or Spanish America.
