We've Grown Up and Old!
My family, what is left of us, gets together once a year in Southern California. That means one sister and one brother fly into Burbank, CA and we pick them up.Time had been good to our family. Most of us have grown old and have lived a good life and those that expired by and large have had a full life. There were a few exceptions but the majority of the family including Mom and Dad lives quite awhile. The leader was Mom who passed away at 99 years 10 months! Close behind are the twin sisters of the family at 90.
We all get along now and there's no fussing and criticism and anger. The ones who were the "bullies" of the family have really mellowed out. As we all sat in the living room "resting" last Sunday I looked at them all and marveled that we are actually getting along now. The fight is gone.
HOWEVER!!! There's always an exception and that's brother John. Johnny, as we called him, was spoiled and bratty. He always knew more than anyone else and he had no qualms in telling you so. He had a little "uproar" of "bossiness" while we were out to dinner. We all let him have it and he quieted down with no fussing. It was funny. Years earlier he would have tried to prove he was right.
We all chuckled, Johnny hung his head and we all continued to stuff our gullets. Hee Hee!
We all got back home and "rested" again and watched TV. Years ago the twin girls, who always scoped everyone out and what they were doing and eating and tolling their eyes at the "fat" people with their plates piled up high with food no longer even mentioned anything.
When it was time for me to leave I hugged them and felt real good that we had gotten along. It felt good to remember the good things about the family. Yes, we are all old but we will plan on getting together soon again. I am looking forward to it.

this was a hard family to get along with. That's why I was amazed that it took old age to make them settle down and quit being so pushy and big billies!
Hee Hee
God did it in His own way!
This is my case, all my bro n sis are in Puerto Rico
I haven't been there for the last 6 years, and right now
no plans to go
I think big distances make things easier as well.
