Christmas Pudding...

I always thought of puddings as sweet and with lots of nuts and fruits......
Yesterday someone told me the English use' beef ' in their Christmas pudding
Is it true?......
How is a pudding made in different countries?

Not so doh maybe who ever told you is a time traveler from the 16th century uh oh laugh & is getting confused with the word "mincemeat" laugh rolling on the floor laughing laugh

Mimi, start baking puddings, Im sure all will love them just as your cupcakes..
ZM, were they using beef then?and now they use mincemeat?
Is it sweet ???
Mimi, maybe ZM, could enlighten us on that ....
Very sweet, probably not good for your grin

The whole meat thing I suspect dates back to the days before sugar, there's certainly been no meat in Christmas pudding in my lifetime professor
ZM, do you make a pudding for Christmas?
Zman, I love gooey stuff smitten smitten smitten wink
No, partly because that requires some skill in the catering department but also the ingredients are hard to get here, we get round this by having them flown in from the UK as luggage in the hold laugh
Mimi, maybe we could persuade ZM,to bake a pudding this Christmas and invite all the female bloggers to his mountain top home...
...
Just needs some custard love

Don't worry ZM, we will clean up your kitchen after the party
Mimi, the Spanish are not big on curry, so again we have to have the ingredients flown in, but as curry takes longer than 10 minutes to prepare it's not in my culinary repertoire laugh
Errrr...Niayana, the 'we', do you by any chance mean you and moi?!?

Pssstttttt! I've got a party to attend to after the meal and I can't get my pretty dress dirtied... uh oh

Oh! And my manicured nails too! mumbling
Well Zman, I'll bring my own ingredients and I'll show you the shortcut ways of making curry well under 10mins and taste equally good. So.....what say you, huh?? drinking
Let's hope so Niayana, so that we, you and I, could go partying after the lovely meal that Zman cooked us! Isn't that lovely?!? smitten

In France there is not such a Christmas pudding. Here the Christmas symbole is a home made pâté or they buy in expencive stores and they usually open the presents on Christmas day. In italy neither ,our Christmas symbole are two cakes ( pandoro and panettone ) and we open the presents on Christmas eve when the clock strikes midnight.

yay thumbs up
Well there is pudding desert, and there is also blood pudding.
Blood pudding?what is that ken?
