Well. I can understand what you are feeling.... I worked in a Bank for 31 years since I was 19... Always loved my work until, about 3 years ago....everything changed in banking in Ireland because of the economic collapse.... anyway, I decided that I would get out of there and do something that I always loved which is baking and cooking in general.....my advice would be to leave now if you are not happy and just do something that makes you happy...... Nobody can make up your mind for you...only yourself....just do it...
I think it is a matter of how you feel about it. My father retired at 65 but he would have preferred to work longer as he was comfortable with his job and his working routine. They would not let him so he had no choice.
how can the difference be just 300 usd?! confused
@ OGD,,not un happy with my job I have a good job and have worked hard all my life,,,just scared I don't make the wrong decision about retiring at 62,, or 66....the money difference
Wen,

First of all, you get Medicare @ 65 not 66. If you get Social Security @ 65, you will have an extra $10,800 versus taking SS @ 62. If you plan on working part time or so. You might want to take the SS @ 62. This way you can start enjoying your retirement earlier. Secondly, what if you died in the 3rd year. You wouldn't have enjoyed any of the money!

Think it through my friend!handshake
@ Ekself,,,yes I see that often,,,i hear of some who say they wished that they did not retire at 62,,,cause of the difference in money,,,,this is only something that has been on my mind even though it is 2 years away,,,i am a planner
My friend at work has the same problem. He is 64 and here in sa men retire at 65 if they can offord to. He has jolled all his life and now cannot afford to retire.

He wants to give up his medical aid which is a lot then he should me able to afford retirement on his life insurance. Provident fund.
@ AJK,,i know,i pulled this up on internet I was surprised to,,,am waiting on some reports to see if it is what I seen
@ Jim,,,everything I see on my ss is 62,,66,,70...yes I want to retire at 62 and yes work some but concerned about the difference in 62 and 66 money...
Wen, not an easy decision! It is good that you plan ahead!

I wish you the best!handshake
@ Snook,,,i have 4001k,,,,i pulled it a while back to get some things done that I needed to get done,,,what was left of it I put in savings,, now I have started over with my 4001k,,,i feel secure with that,, but who knowslife can put some un exspectd twist in your plans
@ Jim ,,oh yes not easy decision,,,,i know it is 2 years away but I do plan ahead.. and was wanting some input from my blogger family,,, thank you for comment
@ Ken,,thanks, you really sound up on all this,,,,you said the part about the age difference not that far apart,, but the same amount of money is to each....I just wonder even though you was very accurate with your facts,,,,i wonder how this could be....government right
Hi Wen
I had about the same options when I took early retirement at the beginning of last year. I have not been sorry. I miss my old job but enjoy the free time more.
cheers wave
Hi wenever

Hey, if you don't have too much debt to care about it

go for it, retired at 62, and medicare is at 65, don't be scared

if not be to...go ahead and planned for that deserve retirement

at 62.
well what to do well firstly .I would not take anything from these blogs what I would say is to go to a ver good accountant and see whats best a few hundred should do will be the best advice you will get and the best money you have spent have a nice evening
retair on time ,dont work so long untill your body say no thanks to you,i had don with it.

my mother worked untill 65 to retair ,and had 2 monthe joy from it wen she get sick and psst away.

you ónly live ones so enjoy your pension
Wenever!
You are undecided on what to do. And going by all the good comments address to you. I think that! You should take some time out to think about this some more. And remember the good comments made to you about this. Then decide what will make you comtable. And also! If you can afford to retire in 2 years. Or pick up a side job. I think that you mention that! You likes your job. What about getting a side job, doing what you do now. Or something else that you would like to do. Or maybe! A work from home job. As long as it is a real one. Some of those stay at home jobs is real. But! Its better to know someone personal, that does it. I have a friend that been working from home, for a year/ half now. Its not sailing anything. She take calls from the companies client's. ( Inbound Calls). And she works by set hours. The more calls she takes, the more her pay. So! She try to do it by 8 to 10 hours a day. And lesser hours on weekends.
Good luck to you! On your decision.
wenever, retire at 62 and start drawing your money. You could die anytime before 65 or 66 and lose out on all the money you've paid in your entire work life.
How will you cover your health insurance btwn 62 and 66? If you go out on the market to buy a plan, you will be in for a rude surprise in terms of how much it'll cost you (or you'll pay the fine which will go up this year).
my advice is go at 62 while you can still enjoy your life and what will be will be ,,i took early retirement at 55 as i had planned to retire at 50,but was a little late in doing so,but i can tell you now, since i have retired i have enjoyed lie to the full,
and the amount of odd jobs i was offered was unbelievable as people will always need some thing done, and when they see you are not working any more they will always ask if you are interested !!! just my thoughts but i have never looked back and now enjoy life to the full,,,and eve through i do not want to work any more only last week i was asked if i wanted to do some odd jobs,i did the one as i had the spare time and was really surprised when i recieved the money for what i had done was a nice little bonus i can tell you even through i did not need it,,,so my friend in truth the decision is really yours, but for me it is take what you have now as you do not know what is around the next corner do you !!!
Hi wenever, wave I would advise you to talk to a specialist in that area, let it be a solicitor or are there organisations in your area who could give you advice?

This can backfire badly if you make a wrong decision and even if it costs some money, get qualified advice.

Best of luck. bouquet
thank you, everyone shared good advice...It is still 2 years away but I am looking at all the options now so that at that time I am at peace with my decision...The one good thing is I can still work with my company part time. handshake
I took most of the data off the SSA.Gov site. You may wish to visit there and check out the pdf publications.

The Obamacare is a bubble that will soon probably be popped by this new Congress. It seems a lot of the stuff they didn't bother to read before voting to approve it has costs they didn't take into account.
@ Ken,,yes what I pulled up om computer is a estimation of what I would draw at 62,,,,but I will loose my health care with company but can still work....this is a hard decision to make for me,, but I am really looking forward at retiring at 62 if possible,, thank you for all the information handshake
