Life Is But A Gamble
Living our lives is very much like gambling and we have to play our chips very carefully if we hope to gain. Everything that we attempt has a risk of failing, sometimes due to factors completely beyond our control.
Before we embark on any big venture, we should consider the odds of success and weigh it up against the impact that failure may have on our lives. While your current employment may not be perfect, you know what you have to deal with but you don’t know what you’re getting into when you when you take up that ‘wonderful’ new job. The grass always looks greener on the other side of the fence; as one of my friends discovered last year.
But you do have to take some risks in life if you want to gain. You cannot win if you do not play but you must decide what to pursue and what to ignore.
If you bet too low, you won’t lose much if you fail but your gain won’t be much either if you win. On the other hand, if you put too much on the stake, you may lose everything.
There is no sure winner in a horse race. We constantly have to weigh up the odds of success vs. the impact of failure. If failure can clean you out, cut your losses and drop out while you can still do so gracefully.
It all boils down to knowing when to hold, when to fold, when to walk away and when to run.

I gambled.....and I lost.
Yes, life is so complicated it can be compared with a jigsaw puzzle. And as in life, forcing pieces into the wrong places does not work out.
I know in most cases what to hold on to, when to give a chance but walk away and when not even to go near something or someone.
Took me time to get there, it's not always easy or even recognisable in some cases, but if it works, it makes life so much easier.
Risk can be mitigated by how well you make decisions. Your decisions can be better the more you understand all the parameters involved in making that decision. In business, there are tons of decisions and risks to take...I think that is why I like it so much....keeps life interesting.
Thankfully, most of my decisions/risks have been good.
It normally takes some some before we learn the finer detail of living an uncomplicated life.
And don't talk about parties!
Yes, once you have assessed the possible consequences of a move, you are better equipped to avoid the possible pitfalls. It is more than just educated guessing.
True, you have to be clinical when important decisions are made. We often fail because of our emotions.
Yes, that is more or less my life story as well.
Hmm, tomorrow night is another complication I would have liked to avoid. There is no ways that I'm going to punish myself again like Monday.
Thanks for the Kenny Rogers song. I had a g/f named Margie who said that to me as she was breaking up with me! I didn't take that well but this to shall pass!
When I need to make an important decision/s, I look at the pros and cons of it. I learned that sleeping on it overnight is a good idea. If you still feel the same way the next day, then make your decision. I have found by appling this principle; I have made very few mistakes.
Any how, don't drink to much this weekend!

Sometimes it is pure luck but thr better your planning the luckier you get.
