A One-Night Stand?
The last time I wrote about this topic, I was chastised to such extend, that it led to yours truly (and a few others) being suspended for ten days. Now, in retrospect, I know that there was another motive behind the attack. So, while it is safe to go back into the water, exactly what is a One-Night Stand? The best definition I found describes it as a sèxual encounter without any future expectations or emotional commitment, lasting only one night..
It would seem that if the act is repeated in future, or if there were future expectations or emotional commitment, it no longer qualifies as a one-night stand.
But what if they separate as planned and ten years later, they have sex again? Is it another One-Night Stand or does the second encounter cancel the first One-Night Stand? Can the same two people have more than one One-Night Stands? Or does that classify under no strings attached?
If I understand this right, we cannot call it a One-Night Stand if the relationship was terminated prematurely for some reason while the couple had future expectations or emotional commitment at the time, even though they had sex only once.
Enlighten me please?
May this day bring only happiness and joy.

That would necessitate you being in an upright position as well.
But there is nothing wrong with a man an woman sleeping together. It is when they stay awake together that raises the eyebrows.
I'm just as confused.
one thing for sure, now to be suspended last a whole month
Do I ever say something that is not the truth as I understand it.
Whether it's called 'no strings attached' or 'one night stand' it boils down to casual encounters. Much of a muchness, don't you think
Me... I prefer two nightstands, rounds off the room
Have a good one
Another one who has been missing for a while.
Yes a mouthful, and appreciated. But then there are a lot of hypothetical questions in my blog. You say a 'two-night stand' is still a one-night stand. So a given couple can have more than one one-night stand. Let's hear what the others will say.
Yes, two night stands becomes necessary if the bedroom is shared by two people.
But a no strings affair can be a long lasting affair while the one night stand is a single event. How many one night stands must the placed in a queue before it becomes no strings attached.
Each to their own, I just like my emotional commitment.
Referring to your last sentence, it's only Tuesday so not much joy.
I'm not explaining. I'm asking. Can a couple have more that one one-night stand, and if so, how many must they string together before in becomes no strings attached.
That is the keyword I was looking for. 'Repeated'. So on your view a one night stand does not have to be a singular event. It does not satisfy the definition, but we're getting on with it
Living together because of circumstances does not indicate commitment. So a husband and wife can also have one night stands when the spark has gone missing.
Whether these relationships work or not, I would far rather be on my own...
Why so quiet on the blogs lately? You're just doing one night stands. You will have to be more consistent.
Can a single blog now and then also be a one-night stand?
Ok, that is another term I don't understand fully but thanks for your view. I wonder how the others feel.
That is how I have it too. Well, the definition also says once only, but some people seems to disagree with it. We'll have to wait and see.
You will make me break all my vows.
Hmm, let's not dwell on the rest of your comment.
Where are the men with their views?
All this talk about loose relationships has me wondering if both parties agree to have a 'one night stand', does it just happen or is it influenced by external factors which result in 'oops' and hoping not to bump into that person again
ps: are 'no strings attached' and 'friends with benefits' the same thing
I think one-night stands and alcohol usage are closely interconnected most of the times. The only one-night stand I was involved in (very long ago), I was drunk.
I have been to bed few times with a few woman on the first date, but in all those cases we have decided beforehand to 'make something out of it', and the ensuing affairs lasted a few months. I cannot classify them as one-night stands. Although it was a first date, we knew each other longer.
Like your honesty. That was what I was thinking but didn't want to say it out loud
The things you learn around here.
My father taught me not to climb into bed with a woman if I'm not prepared to marry her. Can you imagine the consternation when I woke up the next morning and noticed all the flaws that the alcohol had hidden from me the previous evening. I could not take her home soon enough lest one of my family or friends dropped in. And she wanted to linger!
Anyway, the adventure cost me a visit to my GP. An expensive lesson. Oh, the folly of youth!
You live, you learn...
Another lesson my I ignored. Don't learn by your own mistakes; it is cheaper to lear bt the mistakes of other people. My old man had never given me bad advice.
I think I can live with that. It satisfies the definition I quoted in my blog.
I had a series of one night stand with the same guy...I would still consider it a One Night Stand.
I wanted to have a One Night Stand with someone but the price was too high...can't afford it
By definition a one-night stand lasts only one night. I recon thereafter it is an affair, be that open, no strings attached, or friends with benefits. I personally don't think a couple can have more than one one-night stand. It does not satisfy the definition.
like I said...it's series of one night stands
If each night night fits the definition, then it definitely is a one night stand
I suppose definitions can be manipulated to suit individuals, but the way I understand it, to have a series of one-night stands, you have to take another partner every time. Or at least alternate two partners but I'm not even too sure about that.
By definition, a one-night is a singular even between two people.
I hate to differ with you, but the definition very clearly states 'lasting only one night' The second time, violates the definition, rendering the first null and void.
Well, that is the way I see it.
Are you still awake?
I'm not buying them back, ye hear!!
