Have you been the victim of a salesperson..??

Happens everyday to everyone...

Last week I had to get my car serviced, so I asked the service man how much for a compartment air filter? He says $28 for the filter and $79 to install it. I asked why so much to install? He said it's very tricky hmmm!!

Little did I tell him I bought one last week for $12 and installed it myself in roughly 2 minutes. It was so easy to install if I left the cats meow in the car and put some treats by the filter she would have deinstalled it less than a minute..doh

When I was young my dad needed to get the car repaired, so my mom said I'll take it in. He started to laugh, he said if you take it in they will sell you a brand new car. Always sat on my mindconfused

Then years later I was watching this sting operation on an auto repair shop. They set them up, they sent a woman in there saying here car just died on her. The sting operation took out the 1 dollar fuse that resided next to the alternator. When the service man diagnosied the problem he tells her she needs a new alternator for $375......

Auto mechanics must be the best business in the world now. With so many single moms out there when a woman walks into a repair shop here is the service man

lan....here's my Visa # 3456 8697 5477 2001 expiration date 9/17 CV # 674
If you experience any problems call VISA 1800- haha-6745grin
I've never allowed myself to be taken in by a sales pitch.

AS for cars being any good.

Here in the USA General Motors has had tons of recalls on their vehicles.

The list is way way too long to mention.

Like anything else it's consumer beware.
Had the same experience once when I took my truck for a service. Told them I can't afford some of the stuff they wanted to replace as I suspected it was overpriced. Bought the parts and let someone else do it for a fraction of the price. Got caught before so now I first ask around before I let them do any work more than just a basic service.
Pedal, I haven't had an American made car in 30 years. But, I must say when you get into an American car it certainly shows off it;s technologies, but herein lies the problem. The more stuff you stuff it with the more of a chance of failure....I'm sure you've see alot....cheers
CC, good advice......smart girl......grin
HI Ken, when I say American Made I refer to GMAC, Ford and back then Chrysler. I loved working on cars when I was young, then technology took over. The only maintenance I do any more are the brakes....don't have to be a brain surgeon therecheers
Hi Sands wave

Each time I bring my car to the mechanics, I shudder.

I should really hook-up with a mechanic!! idea
Sands, your problem and the economic problem.laugh doh

Hi Usha, yep, that pie keeps getting split more and more, pretty soon will have to call it a piece of cake....that puns for you PAC...rolling on the floor laughing
good point OW, I've noticed that as well, and the shareholders of EBAY also.....it's funny when your backs up against the wall one learns to be very resourceful.....cheers
My sympathy is for cashiers dealing with the choosier and yet more poorly-informed general public.
remember OW, it takes a village........cheers
I've certainly noticed a large uptick in picky customers who simultaneously don't know anything about the work they want doing, or how to get there on a budget. Never has so much time been invested in saving a few pound, it wouldn't be worth the minimum wage.
Yes I got insurance for my tablet now I need a replacementconfused now they say that they don't have that tablet anymorehelp yay peace
boom, that shouldn't be your problem..if they took your money to insure it then they need to either replace it, fix it, or replace it with one of equal value (similar).....read the agreement and hold them to it...cheers
OW, the millennials are here.......let's watch..grin
Boon anytime you purchase extra insurance/warranty you are generally buying trouble.

That is why whenever I have bought any major appliances etc and I get offered the extra insurance/warranty on those items I turn the offer down.

All the extra stuff does is raise up the price of said item. Most times some manufacturer don't generally do repairs or replace certain items anyway.

I purchased a new rug shampooer the other day and was offered an extra insurance/warranty on it and declined the offer. When the machine goes bad I'll just purchase another one.
wave Interesting wording though, "Victim." A couple of Hebrew
fellas taught me sales at age 19. They told me " Never misrepresent anything you are selling, that way regardless of
price, the people receive what they paid for." That was selling
Aluminum siding in the late seventies. If a customer is not
happy with the service or product, the reaction is "look what
they sold me." Happy customer is " look what I bought."
Granted there is misrepresentation from Shysters. Like the fellow that just got arrested for selling a pound of Weed.
A couple gave him $2800, and he gave them a Knapsack of old
Socks.(they pleaded to a lesser charge)laugh
probly smell the same when burnt laugh
pedal, socks can be very expensive these cost 795 euros

Wow, expensive. I am barefoot most of the time, so I just
wear Cycling socks when I go out.conversing
Pedal, yeah, wow but it does come with it's own finely carved carrying case. Could, you imagine going away for a weekend, with your new girlfriend and pulling them out of the suitcase? Now, that's impressive...dancing
She might think I brought toys instead, only to be let down
by seeing Socks.laugh

May I ask what's in suitcase #2 ?!?!? innocent innocent innocent

Hello sands88wave I used to drive a government vehicle for 20 yrs. The work , road construction involved putting a lot of miles on while driving across the province, so I kept my vehicle in good repair. Everytime I took it in for routine servicing , and repairs , Mechanics, would go overboard wanting to do needless expensive work, doh The vehicles were fleet vehicles on a company credit card, which I was responsible for, so I told these greedy people any not needed work done ,head office would be told, and your garage would not be seeing any future work on government vehicles. That sure changed the service I got,yay yay
1-1, when i was young I worked for Hertz, we could have used someone like you, they got ripped off with eyes wide open.....fleet cars were like the guy in my blog.......cheers
