Third Wheel.

Every time I hang out with my friends, they insist on bringing their boyfriends/potential boyfriends or girlfriends. I'm never making someone else be the third wheel! I don't think I could, I know how it feels. It's not fun, it hurts. It's not bad enough that I have to put up with not having anybody, but when my friends are rubbing it in my face, that's what really hurts. Like hey look, I have what you want, so I'm gonna kiss him and hug him and cuddle him while you drive and pout. Fuck that, I'm done with that shit. moping

Tell me about it! Thankfully my friends don't constantly kiss and hug in front of me, and I appreciate it that they're being so polite (I wouldn't like it even if I did have a significant other). Maybe it's because whenever we meet, we have other things to do and talk about - no time for foolish stuff, LOL.

I am quite used to my single status so I never REALLY feel like a third wheel, except perhaps when something new comes into my life (e.g. a new job) and it's almost an expectation to appear at the corporate party "with a guest". (I did once try to drag a "guest" along to such an event and next time I am NOT repeating that mistake!) I do believe that if I want to continue being invited to come along on trips etc, I have to be careful and not e.g. dress "too sexy" or something, so as not to raise any ill feelings from the girlfriends. Anyone else feels the same way?
