A Common Boggle
Seems like a fair amount of us wonder why people use text shortcuts when they are not texting. What I don't understand is the way it's used when the rest of the sentence has spelled out words.For instance, "Ur supercalifragilisticexpealidocious" Why not spell out the 'You're'?
"Y U so existentially exuberant?" Like what is the time savings here?
Is it an attempt to appear to be too cool for school? Is it an attempt to appear to be young and stupid?
Any assistance in edifying me on this subject would be greatly appreciated. :)

Everybody has right not to be oppressed in this democratic world.
Where I find it really stupid is in a serious text with long sophisticated words with some U and R in between.
You seem defensive. Why is that?
