Misunderstood Deer

Put on this planet, the deer is a beautiful creature.

Hunted, it turns into a piece of meat. The hunter salivates at the opportunity to consume such a delight. Served just right, its pinkish meat takes over all thoughts and the consumer gets lost in ecstasy until it is finished....often leaving the consumer without any appreciate for the animal in which gave them such a gift.

With a huge rack, the deer turns into a trophy. The hunter so engrossed in the rack, they cannot wait to tell their friends. They cannot wait to show up at the front door with a smile from ear to ear with the rack on the arm. After displayed properly and the rack put away, all they can talk about is the size of that rack. All this while never acknowledging the life taken.

After some observation of the wonderful deer in the wild, when watched and appreciated, when trying to be understood, the deer will come nearer and nearer each day. The deer will recognize the goodness of the heart and become attracted to it, eventually allowing you to touch it. Eventually allowing you to witness it in its relaxed nurturing role. Like how it cares for its young, its loving and kind nature.

When hunted, it wants to retreat. It wants to be alone. It wants to, at best, only associate with it own kind.

....leaving she says, "I think you misunderstood me dear."

A story inspired by a recent conversation.

Mic....

This was suppose to be my attempt at writing a touch of literature....rather crude I may say...but pretty much how it came out as I thought it up.

It is about a woman (or women) who feel repressed by men.

:)
But, I do hear what you are saying about a deer being taken by a predator....my brother heard that once and he told me it was one of the most fearful things he has ever heard. It was in the dead of night and his place is located in the woods.
Eating deer...
Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) in deer, elk, moose, etc. is similar to mad cow disease & is widespread in some areas.
Creutzfeltd-Jakob Disease is the form of the disease that affects humans.

Does eating CWD deer spread the disease to humans?
There are differing opinions.

CWD involves prions. They're weird...like something out of The Andromeda Strain.

Gotta admit...I'm more wary about eating venison than I was several years ago.

Well Mic, deer season is around the corner...something that needs to be watched out for. :)

The disease is getting worse these days.
Deer?...Dear?
Yeah. I can see the simile.

jackolantern
The deer = the woman
The hunter = man

Then in the end, dear = man

lol
but the deer and the hunter also play their role in the story....the give away there might be something more to the story is the closing line.

Well...that is what it was suppose to be anyway. grin
-well, it made me smile...laugh thumbs up
1to....being in Michigan, your close neighbor, we had a similar cold spell. Yes, the deer population did get hit hard. Even this year, they are predicting a low turn out for deer season.

Viking....you and me both. grin
Hi Johnny

Hi Johnny,
I understood what you were trying to say, and well done on your creativity handshake
Mic, unlike American comedy where they need canned laughter to tell the audience when to laugh, I get things all by myself wink
Excellent Mic....I do see that. grin I must admit, the "gasp" did make me wonder if you really did see what I was saying. :)

Nice!

...and you are right, this would have been far better posted in poetry corner.
Thank you Molly. You are a clever woman and most likely can see through anything, whether BS or an attempt at some artistic writing. grin

Hello Non,

This was my attempt to display a woman's perspective...in some ways of life. Poor deer. :(

All of this was thought up on my way back from a movie last night and from a recent conversation. On the way up to the movie, there were 3 deer crossing the road. As I went by them, I briefly flashed my headlights warning the oncoming vehicle. On the way back, I noticed where one of the deer were hit. Thinking about how they fit into our lives, it dawned on me there are similarities to be fit together.

Molly, that canned humor you speak of is so cheesy in my opinion. To me, it actually takes away from the humor they are trying to portray.

BTW...nice poem you shared.thumbs up
Thanks Johnny.

I love the first 3 lines.
Hey there Johnny.....Great blog, something carrying a message to make us think! Hope it didn't overload any grey matter! Enjoyed the departure from traditional blogland, venturing over towards Poetry Corner....maybe we can see more of this?handshake thanks
Thank you Avias, very much appreciated.

I will see if I can come up with some more artistic ideas. I never really used poetry corner before but certainly will in the future. :)

Johnny, what a delightful story to share. Thanks for the subtle message as to how most of the time women are treated by most men as an ornate. Something that introspect the imagination if not astute reality as a prize with all the accolades to be bragged about. A reward for the hunter as he excelled in the hunting itself. Yet deep down, perhaps even obtusely mistreated his own hunt and set it up for chauvinism intent.

Nevertheless, in the long run realizing such a sordid plight for the hunted, had the guts if not pure kindness to retreat and withdraw itself from the obscured perception of the hunter. Him being the victim instead of the victor.

A most delightful story Johnny which enhances such a subtlety very seldom employed in the art of story telling except perhaps for the likes of Shakespeare, Longfellow and Gordon Byron.

More of that would be a double treat specially in a blog land that is infested of intrigue lately.

Hello SR,

I am not going to lie, I think I deciphered about 80% of what you said. laugh But, just enough to know it was a very honorable critique and I thank you for that.

I hope there are more ideas/stories/realities I can creatively share on here.

Thanks again.

laugh Ken....lovely experience you shared. I do like the deer myself. When I was younger, I did do something hunting. Looking back on those days, I am happy to say I never shot one. However, I have eaten their meat and it is about the best you can have. :)

Of course, there are some meats on the older deer that is not so tasty...if they are swamp deer.
