Supine ignorance!

"-En boca cerrada no entran moscas-", "-Loose lips sink ships-"; Speaking about Mexico: "-Your country took away all symbols that could remind them of Spanish .... Is not that racist? -"frustrated ; an interlocutor, even though he was the most furious of reactionaries, as long as he quarrels with intellectual honesty is always an appreciated and respected opponent; However, showing pride of supine ignorance in an argument between educated and relatively informed people is worse than a forbidden blow to the genitals in a boxing match.

Why is it an ominous affront to the human condition to admit total or partial ignorance in something?

It is also a saying in English when translated more directly, ' A closed mouth catches no flies'
