I like it when people go personally to the 3rd world countries and give it to the right organizations.
We just had calls for bikes and school supplies etc,
I was a parent volunteer in the School District to which i once lived where there were children who didn't even get a free or discounted breakfast/lunch or have the needed clothing in the winter months or a place to live or food to eat.Some schools didn't even have books for each class.
In Flint Michigan, Johhy Sparton, one of our respected bloggers here posted one last year.
But education is most important. I come from the third world Scotty and believe me, our water in the province which away from the crowded cities is very clean and pure. Spring and healthy as it is away from all the pollution.
The people have to be taught to dig deep down the dirt in order to get a very clean filtered water.
Mostly the problem in most third world like India, is because of the over population and lack of good disposal system.
But yes, UN should do its job and it is the head of humanitarian effort to help the world.
A very small % of donations actually end up in these areas in Africa, the rest is taken up by exorbitant salaries and so called admin costs. Bribery and corruption are part of daily life in Africa and equipment sent over is often just taken by Govt or other corrupt officials.
The charities (not just wateraid) are all pretty much the same, They are not charities they are business, I dont give to any charity because of this, give food to a homeless person or donate directly to somewhere.
Does my lawn really needs that much water?
