I've heard all that religious stuff that God lets good people suffer for a good reason.

Well if there were a REAL and True God then he wouldn't allow anyone to suffer.

Only my opinion.

even if Katie is...in her own words. Her desire, doubts, childhood within US drug culture,
but still gave hope and love when called.By God? You decide.

OP is not aware there is NO archeological evidence that the man named Jesus by Constantine's team ever even existed. There is also NO record that the Judea lands ever even had a Governor named Pilate.

Alternatively a study of the Spartacus rebellion and other similar punishment events reveals sometimes it took a long time for someone to die when crucified. When the army of Crassus crucified the 6,000 prisoners of the Spartacus rebellion (71BC) in a long line leading back to Rome, some of them took weeks and weeks to die. Fearing passerby would provide water to the men and women hanging from crosses, Crassus and Pompei posted guards along the road to ensure that didn't happen. Even so some lingered for months.

The great appeal of Christendom is it's offering of a hope for an everlasting life or resurrection. This is of course ased on the myth that a man named Jesus died and was resurrected. This myth is based on the story of a popular well traveled man named Yuzasaf who was an enemy of the Hebrew priests of the time. Whoever the Roman Governor was back then he agreed to crucify the man. However, after only 3 days, when Yuzasaf had trouble breathing due to fluid in the plerual cavity, experienced Roman guards (who did many such crucifixions) stabbed the cavity with a spear, then cut the man down and carried him to a vacant tomb. A variation of that same procedure is still done today using a tube when fluid accumulates between a lung and the chest wall. The fluid drains out, the wound heals and the patient recovers. In the case of Yuzasaf the guards spread a rumor he was dead, then later when he was well permitted his followers to come and get him. Yuzasaf was told that it woud be a really, really good idea to get out of Roman territory because the next time the priests complained he would be crucified until he really was dead. History records he took this advice seriously and with his companion Miriam and a handful of followers he headed off to India. The journey is detailed in the forbidden book known as the Acts of Thomas. [Thomas later went on to form his own church in India before an angry king had him pierced with arrows after he dallied too often with one of the King's wives. In the time of Constantine the Church founded by Constantine was declared to be Christian.] Yazaraf is today buried in the tomb known as Roza Bal. Several other holy men were also buried there in subsequent years. The marker of the tomb of Yazaraf bears a carving of a man pierced in the feet and the wrists. Local lore records that Yazaraf and his wife farmed sheep and had many children. Yazarath was in his eighties when he died. He was quite a popular guy as in his youth using the name Issa he had traveled as far East as Japan before returning to the Mid-East. Indeed his conflicts with the Hebrew priests may have grown from his introducing far Eastern philosophies to those in the Hebrew temples.

In any case the Emperpor Constantine found the story of Yazaraf to be a useful tool to base his Jesus resurrection character on when writing the first Bible. Later on of course Yazarath was borrowed again for the book and movie known as "The Da Vinci Code" in which the character tracks down the descendants of Jesus and Mary. Historically there is reason to believe the legendary search for Holy Grail during the Dark Ages was a mere cover story for knights assigned (with the consent of their Kings and Dukes) by the Roman Catholic Church to find and slay all descendants of Jesus/Yasaraf least one of them attempt to claim the Papal throne.

Yes, sure if it makes you happy to pray to someone who never really existed go for it. But know the origin of the myth also.
