Scammer or Not ?

I've received several respondents asking me to communicate with my email address direct or ask me to add them to on-line chat. But I'm very aware about the advise from this site quoted as follows: "Scammers often ask for your email address right away, or give you theirs. They want to communicate off site as soon as possible."

As this site is free, I feel very convenient for me to read mails (make no difference to log in to my own email -- as to read mail from here is just to log in too), why they want to send mail to my own e-mail address?? I cannot understand and will they be scammers... it hesitate my further communication with them. As I've unhappy experience before that the respondents from other on-line site that they ask me to send photo to his email address, after I've sent, he never replies and a week's later, my computer gets virus and need to change the hard disk finally which cost me maintenance fee.

Now the respondents here, photo and profile not bad, but just asking communication with own email address. Should I trust them or should I alert? I really feel a bit frustrated about this. Why they feel not convenient to communicate here? I love to write blog here and log in to check my mails here too. And to read blog from members too. Why they don't like it? Can some members tell me I should alert or should have more faith to it?

Thank you very much !! teddybear

hi kubera
its says on the scam warning on tool bar to be careful.

i would not give my e mail to another person on this site- your right to ask why he wants to contact you on your personal e mail address when this one is fine.
trust your instincts- its better to be safe than sorry.

wave hi
you don't need to alert ..,just stay calm and relax ..and DON?T give your own adress mail to people you don't know !
specially if they want your adress very soon as possible .., this sound strange....confused
and even if is not a scammer (for money ..ecc..) when a person you don't know at all ,ask to you to give email adress in hurry ..., well also in this case is not a good person , could be a pervert person who just want added you on his live chat ..for you know what .....blushing blushing doh !
so wish you a great week .. and always be careful ..to many weird ..surfing the web
doh mumbling

I have had my share of respondants asking me for my personal email address. As soon as you refuse to give them that information they will drop out of sight. I am not sure how well connected they all are, but I have not had any further problems with these scammers.

I would prefer to play it safe and stay on CS for communication. peace

Very true dear sweet_saucy2008, they disappeared after I said I prefer to use the mail box at CS. That's why I hope to get opinion from members to see whether I should contact them at their own email address or not. If most members think they are not scammer then I may try to contact them as they wish... but now seems most comment advise to stay safe at CS, so now I prefer to give up such respondents who wish to use personal email then. Thank you all of you who give me comment, thanks a lot ! cheers

I get people asking me all the time for my email address,it doesnt make sense why they would want to email rather than log on to cs for free! The bottom line is they r scammers! They get hold of your email address and use it for all kinds of illegal activities, dont give it out, unless you know the person realy well! Good luck peace

I'm really confused here. I sighed up in CS for not very long time. I feel people here are really very sensitive about their email address.
In other date sites I never met this kind of thing. We gave our email address very freely. But after learning all these kind of advice I also be alert about this.

But chat in CS is really not very good, always stop. So if I want to chat with sb I think msn is better but just wonder if he can give me his msn account.
