What happened to classic rebellion?

Having political debates is taxing, to be sure. It is even more taxing when people try to prove my points "wrong" by quoting information from biased sources. It is like people cannot understand that I am simply a troublemaker and a free spirit when it comes to political opinion. I don't watch any news; my opinion is my own. The only current events I see are the ones I see/hear people talking about. I was big on having serious political debates while I was in college (and taking political science courses), but that was a long time ago. I do what I do because I believe our authority figures are too powerful and too corrupt. I rebel for the sake of freedom... that's pretty much it. I'm not a real conservative (if you have seen some of my previous posts)... it just seems that way because I live in a blue state and the House, Senate, and President are also "blue". They are the only people I have to rebel against.

sigh

People... take it from me; life is too short to waste time being a sheep for any political organization. Government has power and power corrupts. The only government I really like disappeared long ago when our country stopped paying attention to the constitution. Have you taken the time to analyze the tings in that bad boy? That is some pretty rebellious sh*t. Our founding fathers broke away from a tyrant government... I have a profound respect for that. Then, they instituted the Constitution and the Bill of Rights for the sole purpose of not falling to tyranny again!! My personal favorite political quote comes from the Jefferson Papers.

"No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government."
-Thomas Jefferson, Proposed Virginia Constitution, 1776, Jefferson Papers 344 thumbs up

If you are going to follow politicians... follow that guy. Atleast he knows how to smack an uppity and corrupt gov't in the face when they need it. Peace out.

cheering

True patriotism is upholding the constitution, not waving flag and saying "Duh".

The leaders swear to uphold the constitution when they take office, but they are already bought by big business in the form of campaign contributions. (Some countries do it differently) Big business has a different agenda than the constitution. This is why corporate welfare increases, etc.
