Vanity

People nowadays especially women are prone to vanity. If you open a magazine and turn its pages, what do you see? Don’t you see beautiful and skinny women who advertise clothes, dresses, make-ups, perfumes and even cigarettes? When you turn on the television, what do you usually see on TV commercials, the models, actors and actresses?

The media shows us the norms of beauty in which women are especially convicted to it. They try to convince people that beauty is being slim, having stylish hair, possessing accessories and expensive jewelleries, fashionable dresses/clothes, having the latest electronic gadgets and even cigarettes. Women are most prone to these things as they think that it is important in life and they will feel less confident if they don’t have these things. Because of these things, people tend to work more and earn more money in the hopes of buying these things that will make them more beautiful. To most people, this leads to vanity and they forget all about the real beauty.

I am a woman too and I love dresses, accessories and stuff but it doesn’t lead me to being so vain about how I look in the public. I personally think that we should not let media conquer us and run our lives. Well it is true that media is everywhere and has a great effect in our lives but if we start appreciating the beauty that we are gifted with then vanity will vanish.

Women have eventually forgotten how beautiful they are and wanted more not only because of what they personally see on the television or magazines but how men make them feel. Sometimes men tend to adore women who possess beautiful bodies and face that of the Hollywood actresses and these will make women feel less appreciative of their own beauty and desire to be like someone they are not. Women are vulnerable, and they always want to be assured that they look good and if they think that their man does not appreciate how they look then they are going to do everything to make him appreciate her more. Women take the risk of taking slimming pills, going through operations and stuff like that just to be more pleasing to people’s eyes. What most women don’t realize is the beauty inside them, that this is far better important than the beauty outside.

I am not blaming the media and men for the vanity of women. I just think that these are factors that affect women in everyday of their lives and it will always be the woman’s choice whether to give in to these factors.

Sort of like the immobilized masses here who demand a PIC or they won't communicate with you, isn't it.

Since chemistry is an internal not external condition(ask those PIC experts who actually believe it is external why they have failed when choosing their mates through sight, Oh the denial), then try for once to do something that has not failed us time after time.

No pic means actually get to know me and see if we click. It saddens me that such superficial excuses(ever heard of faking a pic on here, pics from 5 years ago, etc etc.) are used to determine who we will and won't communicate with.

Alas fear is not sighted it seems and OH YES I will give her/him a chance if she/he looks delicious. WOW

There is a word for that, Hmmmmmm nope that is not it.

Yes i agree with most of what you said here i think the media has contributed in promoting many things that are not necessarily useful to us but amount to vanity upon vanity , real beauty is of the inside and not on the outside to me any partial beauty is not beauty at all the power of the media has been misused to mislead people who lost their mind and conviction to the truth

I scanned this blog, didn't read it thoroughly.
Beauty, pills, slim, fat, models, actors, sheep... Does it matter? Everyone is vain in some respect or another. End of story. Your mother's fault, my mother's fault, the media's fault. Who cares? mumbling

Well beauty and sex sells products, doesnt it. Thats the simple truth. Thats why department stores uses pretty girls on the cosmetic counters and the beauty challenged ones are helping in the warehouse out the back. Who wants to buy lipstick and foundation from an overweight, zit covered assistant ? Sorry but thats how it is.

very well said how1e!!! applause the media only cares about profit so if beautiful and sexy models sell the products, why not??? the most important thing is that we remain aware that what we see on commercials from the TV, billboards, or mags is not real. I appreciate the models but i also know that they look flawless in those ads because of photoshop.... yay plus their make-up artists are well trained to enhance their looks. let's just keep sticking to 'what is more important is what is in the heart' .... heart wings
