lion131: that is fantastic!well done to you!you have some collection of cats! my great grandfather was from cork, and i have lots of relations there still!

Thank you! grin It happened as it was meant to, I believe. I seem to attract animals like a magnet to iron. laugh My dear other has a devil of a time getting me out of the petting zoos at the local fairs. laugh

My favorite patron saint is St. Francis of Assissi and little wonder! Look at the cat collection! laugh I make sure that they are spayed and neutered so the population doesn't get out of control. I also have some friends in Dallas who run a cat rescue.

What a small world! My dad's family is of the Larkin (O'Lorcain) name and they have spread all over Ireland it seems. My favorite place to visit is that little village (well, not so little anymore *chuckle*) of Glanmire and St. Finbarr's chapel in Gougane Barra. Whereabouts in Cork are your relatives?

ladichatterlee: Oh yeah, you're out of YOUR tree, Dearie. You seem to think that spouting your opinion is going to make something true when it doesn't.Saying things doesn't make things true, no matter how much one wishes it otherwise. Comments said by someone doesn't make them a racist.

The only way Rush's comments wouldn't make him a racist would be if he were quoting someone else. However, he made the statements outright, and they were blatantly racist statements

So sue him if he annoys you so much for pete's sake! Better yet, call him and tell him on the air what you really think of him. That's if you have the stones to do so.

Good grief, haven't you ever said something "off color" and then realized it later?

Yes, I've made statements off color, within the context of a joke. I didn't 'realize' it later, I knew it when I said it.

So what does that say about you?

There's nothing whatsoever "funny" about the comments RL made, nor was he making them in a joking manner.Did you not read my other post that says that RL has a producer and sidekick who is a man of color as well as one of his best friends?

And? Your point? Doesn't make him any less racist.Does that make them racists too?

Depends. Do they make racist comments like he does?

Don't know, why don't you ask them?

You seem to like to point fingers not realizing that three fingers are already pointing back at you.

Huh? Not sure of your point, but I can tell you one thing: those three fingers are not pointing back at a racist.

Perhaps not, but they are pointing back at a person who has revealed themselves to be very petty, shallow and singleminded in intent..

I tell you things about me so that we can have a better understanding of one another. I'm glad that you're a Christian, as am I.So, to make this argument, shouldn't we as Christians try to make the world a better place for others? I apologize, I'm also in the hospital battling MRSA at the moment- a potentially life threatening condition. No sooner do I drift off to sleep, then three way too lively nurses come charging in, slamming pen the door and hollering, "Wake up! We're here to do your vitals!"

I'm sorry you're sick but so am I. Not going to discuss it here but it's potentially life-threatening.

I'm sorry to hear that you are sick as well. May you heal swiftly.

You've both defended and denied RL's comments, then turned around and stated you didn't agree with them, then came back around and defended them again so many times in this thread that I'm getting dizzy. (Are you highly medicated, by any chance?)

Yep, Vicodin. Nasty stuff. URG.I'm badly allergic to anything remotely narcotic.

What you seem to fail to realize is that people do speak out against RL but until it becomes unlawful, it's merely opinion. Sadly, you and I can't do anything about it. We just have to deal with it, unpleasant as it is. Remember Don Imus? People complained and he lost his job. Now he's back on the air. He still has a job and he gives his opinions. If you truly have as much disdain for RL as you claim, call him and tell him.

It surely is merely opinion but because it reaches the masses, it fuels hatred and bigotry. My speaking out against it in the forums, which also has a far-reaching audience, I think will do a lot more good than calling him, don't you?

Not really, if you want to make a true difference, go to the source itself. That way MILLIONS can hear it.

Oh, by the way, I never bow out, but I'll always give the other person the chance to.Don't hold your breath if you're waiting for me to. LOL. I do need to get SOME sleep, however. Later!

Do sleep well! wave

ladichatterlee: You are completely out of your tree. I am not "finally" getting anything. And yes, you most certainly did defend RL and made outright denials as to his blatantly racist statements. I posted attribution, which can easily be found by doing a search. Posting a link will merely direct you to that same story.

jealous? In your DREAMS, sweetie.

I don't criticize anyone for having a differing opinion at all. I challenge and criticize statements made within the context of the thread subject and/or particularly with regard to personal lies or innuendos about myself.

I never said I didn't like good works; I just don't see your point in bragging about it then, in the same breath, critiize and insult people for availing themselves of government assistance if and when they need it. Why is it okay for them to accept charity from you, but not the goverment?

This thread is not about my good works. This thread is about Rush Limbaugh.

"Deep down" I'm a great person? Honey, one doesn't have to go very deep to realize I'm a great person! LOL.

I'm not sure why the reference to the fact your two best friends are pagan, but for the record, I'm a Christian.

And what does your desire to learn have to do with anything, and particularly your making it sound as though you have a desire to learn, yet I don't? And what does that have to do with RL and his racist comments?

I have nothing whatsoever against you personally; I'm arguing with the words, as far as I'm concerned, and not a particular person.

So in that light, sorry, but your syrupy suck-up post is still peppered with many insults. Insincerity is soooo unbecoming. Might as well bow out now while you can.

What needs to be done is for people to speak out against RL and others like him and boycott their radio programs and get their racists asses off the air. That'd least be a start in an attempt to eradicate racism.

ladichatterlee: Huh? Finally getting WHAT? LOL

Look, petunia. What the hell I do with my money is MY business, not yours. What does ANY of your statements have to do with ANY of this thread? You went from making a futile attempt to defend Rush Limbaugh's comments to making this a "who's the more charitable" between the two of us. Your using Latin didn't make any sense, and your trying to prove you're better than me makes even less sense. Moreover, I never twisted your words whatsoever. I never said there was anything wrong with helping people get out of their situations. Where do you come up with such bizarre notions?

And what purpose does it serve for you to brag about how much charity you provide to people on government assistance, when you insult and criticize those very same people for doing so?

That's great. Again, you are finally getting it! thumbs up I no more support Rush Limbaugh's statements than you do. Again, racism exists and we need to deal with it. no one says we have to like it. But links are necessary to prove otherwise, not mere opinion. Just writing something by some fellows is not providing a link.

It sounds as though you may be jealous of those who have more and who give more because they can. You criticize those who dare to have a differing opinion, thinking as though you are above them. Then when given a differing opinion, perish forbid that it should not agree with your way of thinking. We're not all going to get along. We can't all be alike because we'd all be very boring. Then when given some Latin to show you some "enlightenment", you don't like it. Then when given some examples of good works, you don't like it either. There are those here who bawl all day about the nastiness of a differing party or individuals when they themselves do the same thing. They "claim" to be for the people, but all that is seen is opinion, bashing, name calling, etc... They are literally on the forums constantly. Not a very good example to show how much they help others, would you think? I wasn't trying to criticize you, and I apologize if it came across that way. I was asking about your good works and how they have affected others. Do you make a difference or do you sit back and complain because it's easier? Have you ever written to someone with that desire to know them better and to learn what makes them tick? I write in response because I like communicating with you. I'm still wondering why myself. Because I think deep down, you seem like a great person. Oddly enough, my two best friends are Pagan. We never fail to learn from each other. Shouldn't that be something great?

If I ask questions it's because I have that desire to know things.I love learning and plan o learn until the day I leave this life. Don't you ever ask questions and ask why? If so, why not?

ladichatterlee: You are absolutely delusional.

Wanting to be on government handouts? Where the hell did you get that from? I run two businesses and have never once been on government handouts in my life. having said that, I see nothing wrong with people in need availing themselves of government assistance if they truly need it. You brag about being able to help people in need, yourself, but you chastise those who would rely on that same help from the government. To "God(dess)" be the glory, right?

I'm done with you...

My earlier post quotes you. I, too, run two businesses. That's great that you're not on government assistance! You're finally getting it! thumbs up What's wrong with helping people who are on government assistance to get out of their situations so that they don't have to be? Do you help them to get off of government assistance so that they can have a life as good as yours?Have you offered them a home with you to get them out of that situation? How many families did you take in during the hurricanes and after Katrina? Did you pay their medical bills, dental bills, food and clothing? Did you help them enroll in the local schools? How much do you donate to charity or local food shelves? Try twisting my words truthfully for once.

ladichatterlee: Denial ain't just a river in Egypt, hon. Primitive, my ASS. It was an OVERTLY racist statement, no matter how you want to try to slice it.

I am about as much as a WASP as anyone can be, but I ABHOR anyone who makes racist statements and who, by those statements, proclaims superiority because of their race. Yes, racism exists and always will, but I'll be DAMNED if I have to accept it.

Rush Limbaugh may not have been born with a silver spoon in his mouth but he earns a living by making primarily racist comments directed toward an audience of equally racist listeners.

I'd rather live my entire life on government handouts (if I needed to) than EVER become the racist he is, or support anything he has to say.

ladichatterlee: Now, which are you going to claim? That the site itself has no credibility, that Rush never made the comments, or that the comments were taken out of context? Or perhaps all three! Whatever works to suit your agenda, right?By Jeff Cohen and Steve RendallTalk radio host Rush Limbaugh may be returning to television. He recently auditioned for a job as color commentator on ABC's Monday Night Football. The tryout followed weeks of self-promotion by the self-styled "truth detector" to the millions who listen daily to his syndicated radio show on some 600 stations.

Limbaugh's audition is stirring controversy. Sports columnist Thomas Boswell quipped that if Limbaugh joins Monday Night Football, then baseball's game of the week broadcasters might "team up with John Rocker."

Veteran sports writer Michael Wilbon, who is black, indicated a boycott might result: "If Rush Limbaugh is put in that booth, I will NOT listen to the broadcast," he wrote in a Washington Post chat session. "His views on people like me are well documented and I would find it insulting and hypocritical to watch him…There are tens of thousands, probably hundreds of thousands who feel the same way I do."

If ABC hires Limbaugh, it's not clear a boycott will materialize. What is clear is that his expressed views on racial matters -- from the spiteful to the sophomoric -- would make him an odd color commentator. Indeed, CBS Sports dismissed Jimmy the Greek Snyder for ignorant racial remarks less derisive than some of Limbaugh's.

As a young broadcaster in the 1970s, Limbaugh once told a black caller: "Take that bone out of your nose and call me back." A decade ago, after becoming nationally syndicated, he mused on the air: "Have you ever noticed how all composite pictures of wanted criminals resemble Jesse Jackson?"

In 1992, on his now-defunct TV show, Limbaugh expressed his ire when Spike Lee urged that black schoolchildren get off from school to see his film Malcolm X: "Spike, if you're going to do that, let's complete the education experience. You should tell them that they should loot the theater, and then blow it up on their way out."

In a similar vein, here is Limbaugh's mocking take on the NAACP, a group with a 90-year commitment to nonviolence: "The NAACP should have riot rehearsal. They should get a liquor store and practice robberies."

When Carol Moseley-Braun (D-IL) was in the U.S. Senate, the first black woman ever elected to that body, Limbaugh would play the "Movin' On Up" theme song from TV's Jeffersons when he mentioned her. Limbaugh sometimes still uses mock dialect -- substituting "ax" for "ask"-- when discussing black leaders.

Such quotes and antics -- many compiled by Fairness & Accuracy In Reporting (FAIR) for our 1995 book -- offer a whiff of Limbaugh's racial sensibility. So does his claim that racism in America "is fueled primarily by the rantings and ravings" of people like Jesse Jackson. Or his ugly reference two years ago to the father of Madonna's first child, a Latino, as "a gang member-type guy" -- an individual with no gang background.

Post the link, cupcake or you have nothing. And right now, you have nothing. Ever heard of sarcasm in radio? Evidently not because it's all about racism with you. :roll eyes: Do be sure to get out there in the real world and not just behind a computer monitor fighting racism- better yet, get out there on the streets shouting, "No More Racism!" and let's see how far it gets you. Been nice dueling with you. We'll be sure to do it again sometime. handshake

ladichatterlee: Your comments are fast approaching the nonsensical and noncontextual. What are you talking about when you refer to "high emotion" getting in the way? "Real links?" What the hell are "Real Links" as opposed to "False Links?" What "real links" are, in your mind, are simply those links that contain statements you happen to agree with.

Perhaps I need to sit with (whom?) and examine why I feel the way I do? You mean that I abhor racists like Rush Limbaugh? Ummmm...right.

I'm not sure what your being a horse and cattle rancher has to do with anything, but if you're so anti-racist, then why don't you abhor RL and other talk show hosts like him, who make racists comments on a daily basis? I'm by FAR not alone in my opinion of this, so there has to be some merit to it.

No, I'm afraid I don't have horse and cattle ranch that I can utilize to battle racism ... ... nor am I a minister, ordained or otherwise.

But what I do about racism is speak out against it, and loudly and proudly. If you ask me, you seem more interested in bragging about what you know and what you have (perhaps in an effort to make up for some personal inadequacies?) than demonstrating that you truly CARE about the people you are bragging so much that you are helping.

You're letting your emotions get in the way of rational thought. You refuse to listen to reason or a differing opinion.. If that's the way you feel, I'm sorry, but I just can't quite conjure up any pity for you. Who says I don't abhor racists? Why does this have to be against radio talk show hosts? Don't they get to have an opinion or is it just you and yours alone? *raises eyebrow* People of all races make comments. It's a fact of life. Have you ever heard African Americans calling each other the "N" word?

So you have the opportunity to help them. And? One doesn't need a cattle/horse ranch in order to do that.

Regardless, still doesn't negate the fact that Rush Limbaugh is a Big, Fat RACIST Idiot.

Yes, I do have the opportunity to help people. What do you do to help eradicate racism? You still haven't provided a link where Rush Limbaugh is a racist. Until you do, you have N-O-T-H-I-N-G.

AnAngelAlways Joshua, Texas USA
ladichatterlee: This has nothing to do with the "left" criticizing the "right." As I stated before, I am somewhere in the middle. This post wasn't about anyone else; it was about Rush Limbaugh. And Rush Limbaugh is a racist, plain and simple.

Hmm, so now Sharpton and Jackson are pimps? LOL.

As far as the archives, which I haven't read, so don't know whether all, or any, of his racist comments are on there, ever hear of editing?

I stated before I abhor ALL racists. Now, I'm sure most all of us are guilty of having made a racist comment or two in our lives, whether intently or "innocently" or something that could, indeed, have been taken out of context. But right wing radio hosts are known for their racist, pro white, pro Christian (and I AM a Christian, by the way), anti anything but American fear-mongering propaganda.

I don't follow Sharpton's or Jackson's comments much but what I have heard generally has been defensive or countering type comments to statements or actions that were racist in nature to begin with.

*Shakes head*Have you ever heard of research for yourself? Perhaps you could just for a moment and not let high emotion get in the way, you could post a real link (not wikipedia, not any org sites) where a racist comment was said and not merely your opinion, but real links that prove otherwise.Youtube and CNN don't count, either by the way. But REAL links. If you are unable to, we'll shake hands and go our separate ways. If not, no one wins. And no one wins no matter what.No one gets to have the last say either. I abhor all racists too. It's an ugly thing. Sadly the world can be very ugly. I've never known any right-wing radio host that are known for racists, pro-white, pro Christian stance. If anything, they are for the success of each individual and the hope that each person gets to live the life that they seek. What is wrong with wanting that for people? Comments are always made that aren't nice. It happens even though we dislike it. If you get that, perhaps it's your own local talk radio hosts and your interpretation or hearsay which can carry and becomes "truth" to those who carry it on. Perhaps you need to sit with and examine deeply why you feel as you do. It's definitely a thought and only a suggestion.

Not only being a horse and cattle rancher, I'm an ordained, non-denominational minister. I counsel all races, all creeds, all colors of faith and those of none at all. Most of all, pregnant, unwed mothers and their boyfriends and/or families. Each person is a unique individual and they are such a blessing. If you abhor racism so much, what are you doing to stop it? Do you see each person as an individual or do you see color? Do you see their potential? Do you see their hopes, dreams, know of their aspirations, help them to achieve them? You see, I have the opportunity to help those in need and I give all that I have. And gladly. :-)

It is funny how the left conveniently forgets history. It was a Republican president that emancipated the slaves. It was the Radical Republicans in the Reconstruction Period that fought for and died for rapid implementation of that emancipation following the Civil War, while Moderate Republicans and Democrats resisted. During that same period of time, the KKK came into existence, not from the Republicans, but from the Southern Democrats. It was the Republicans who helped pass the Civil Rights act of the 1960's, while Democrats the likes of Robert "KKK" Byrd and Al Gore, Sr. opposed it.

If you want to talk about racism, how about the way that Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas was treated during his confirmation hearings? Or, how about Joe Biden's comments about finding Indians everytime you walk into a 7-Eleven? How about some on the left during the primaries questioning the authenticity of Obama's "blackness", how "clean and articulate he is", and concerned about his lack of "slave blood"? Wasn't it Jesse Jackson who was caught during last year's campaign saying "Barack...he's talking down to black people...telling niggers how to behave."? Why is it when Juan Williams of Fox News says something that is in opposition to the race pimps on the left he is call an "Uncle Tom" and told to "get back on the porch" (re: the plantation)? Why is it after almost 50 years of a "War on Poverty" the left still portrays this country some soup kitchen when in fact the Democrats controlled Congress for a large part of that time?

If Rush is such a racist, why is it that his show producer, Bo Snerdly, is black as well as one of his best friends, former NFL player, Rev. Ken Hutcherson? As I stated before, the comments that Rush supposedly said back in 1998 that were the center of this recent controversy had no foundation in fact. No one, including the race pimps Sharpton and Jackson, could provide any original source documentation of these statements, not in print, audio, or video, despite that fact that all of Rush's radio show is archived on his website. The media that reported it did so based on heresay and many have now retracted it.

Maybe before the left wants to try to criticize the right, the left they should remember what is said about "those that live in glass houses" and try cleaning up their side of the aisle first.
