Arlene, at the beginning of this thread, the quoted text from HE'S SCARED, SHE'S SCARED gave a long list of reasons why people are *not* unable to sustain relationships...

"If you've fallen in love with too many inappropriate people, it's not only because you have a big heart. If you've never been able to sustain a relationship for more than a year, it's not because of fluctuatiing biorhythms or transiting planets," etc.

I'm wondering if "rebelliousness" might be felicitously added to that list - viz., "If you cannot love with someone, it's not because you're a rebel"??
Anythig is possible with me Doc.. I will make attempt to get the book. Hell, I have my own Doctor for the last 20 years.professor

I will make this easier on you Dr. Ambrose. I grew up (or notlaugh ) with VERY strict parents and was always being old what to do and not to do. I never liked rules and I still don't. Therefore I look at marriage as one hell of a pile of rules that I cannot conform to becfause I am still and always will be rebellious.professor devil

Come now, Arlene, you can surely be a bit more forthcoming with the good doctor (do I need to bring you a stiff drink there on that couch?)? Think back...there must've been something that repelled you from him. To be frank, he sounds like one helluva guy (except for the "laid-back" bit, of course...I must confess that gives me cold chills).

Dear Dr. Jeff:

I am writing on behalf of a friend, who shall remain nameless. He states he is a normal macho, staunch heterosexual male. I have seen him in a tool belt, and he certainly outwardly appears as such. However, he has a wig collection that would be the envy of even the queen of drag queens.

What would be your diagnosis? Is he subconsciously trying to convey a message regarding an alternate sexual orientation? Could it be a subconscious attempt to avoid committment by appearing clinically insane? Or, perhaps merely an addiction to synthetic fiber? I would greatly appreciate your input.

He was good-looking and laid-back... I zee (you may have noted from my profile that I am not a big fan of being "laid-back")

So what didn't appeal to you about him during your courtship?
Nothing honestly, I was too young to think about it. I simply lost interest in him after I got married. Same as other one.

Well, Arlene...first, stretch out on my King-sized couch and make yourself comfortable...okay, comfy?

Now, let's start when you were a child, and your mommy used to make you dress up in old moldy wedding gowns dragged down from the attic...?

Okay, not ringing any bells? Okay, then let's start with your weddings. What in the world happened to you in them that was so traumatic, my dear?
Well Dr. The first guy Imarried-- didn't love (pregnant and sad if he wanted to get his sex somewhere else, to do so- and he did and I left within five minutes. The second one is now pushing up daisies , but he was dianosed as a schizophrenic after I left him the first time. I end up leaving everyone. The only time I thought I might be in love was after the 2 marriages and I sold everything and high tailed it the other end of the country.dunno I am happy however living alone.

Don't wory, Ikt, this thread will heat up like a wildfire when you're least prepared for it!

I can just feel it...it's just a matter of time...a relationship discussion that will make gotterdammerung seem like a drunken stroll in a kiddie park...
I KNOW I am emotionally unavailable. I will not do it. I was married twice and stood at six weddings and damn near passed out at the last few. I attended a wedding last Saturday and I tried to think of everything to get out of it. I even got physically ill and than I broke out in two big bumps on my face and then at the wedding reception my arms looked like the biggest case of measles I ever saw. I even showed my friends and they couldn't believe it. Now Dr. Ambrose, can you explain it?confused It is a phobia, for sure.teddy bear

I want to take the course but there is no point of me taking any such alternative languages when I don't have someone interested in taking at least one of them with me. I tried taking the French class but it would have been much easier to have someone to practice with.

I went menopausal at 31 after 7 pregnancies in just over 5 years. (I lost 4 babies at 6 months pregnant each time). I was depleted of oestrogen, and had the symptoms reversed over the next two years with HRT.

I was fine until I reached 47 and I went for real this time. Couldn't stand the symptoms, hot flashes ever 30 seconds, no sleep, mood swings, sore, and got all the associated illnesses including fybromyalgia and arthritis (osteo and rheumatoid). I was almost paralysed with it. I had tests done again and found that it was a complete absence of oestrogen and was given oestrogen replacement this time and have never had a symptom since. I am 54 now and feel 30 and my body has no signs of menopausal asociated symptoms at all now.

There are different routes for different people and there are just so many different ways to get relief. I find there is no point in suffering if you can find a solution that keeps you active and healthy.
Sorry to hear about the babies, I lost four also but in the very early stages. Everything is for a reason, whatever that may be. Some women have been know to go through menopause as early as 20. That would suck.hug
