Zellarrone1: Well, obviously gluttony and lack of self discipline seemed to run in the family of the woman I witnessed have the heart attack.

The two daughters in their early 20s were of similar size and also on the list to have it done. Some people just seem to see it as an easy fix to loose weight without them having to bother to eat sensibly, exercise etc.

It is certainly NOT an easy option. It is only done as a last resort and affects a persons eating habits for the rest of their lives. One of the advantages is that it can cure diabetes, both types 2 and sometimes type 1.

haunebu2: IMO Gastric band operations should only be carried out strictly for medical reasons via the NHS for people who need it due to glandular and other serious medical problems beyond their control.

BUT - If the operation is needed due to lack of self-discipline in refusal to stop stuffing themselves with the wrong foods and drinking excessively etc to the point of danger to their health they should be forced to either pay the NHS for it or go private and not expect the tax payer to fund it.
Simple as that. Its curious that the originator should disappear

You mention lack of self-discipline etc. The problem is junk food is addictive. McDs even put sugar in their buns for the burgers. Sugar is addictive. Morbidly obese people aren't stupid. Just because they have an addiction to extra calories, they are not stupid or ignorant etc. The fat doesn't affect their brains and they know full well they are slowly setting themselves up for problems, yet they cannot stop their addiction. Surgery is the answer, but so is, I think, psychological counselling, and tuition in how to shop and cook. Look at the junk people put in their baskets in shops such as Netto. Junk is cheap. A pack of biscuits for 20p. Cut those people some slack, as there is more to it than sheer gluttony.

I suppose a person weighing 25 stone can also suddenly have a heart attack too. Also other problems related to weight as well. A bypass often cures diabetes as well.

I love ironing - love it, love it, love it. The secret is to get a steam generator iron. It is fantastic, and makes ironing so easy. In fact I can't wait to use it, in above half an hour after I have changed the cats' litter trays - now that is a job I hate.

Seriously, a steam generator iron is fantastic, fast, efficient and iron stuff when they are hanging up too. It irons fabrics you would never normally let an iron near to as well.

As a child we had breakfast, dinner was at lunchtime and supper was in the evening. That was in London. How's that for confusing?

My first husband (I have been married and divorced twice, I love wedding cakes), came from Stoke on Trent, a couple of hundred miles or so from London. His family called them brakfast, lunch and tea was the evening meal. Supper was a 10pm snack.

Very confusing.

The UK is small, but every 20 or so miles the accent changes and although the UK could fit into the size of Texas I think, it is extremely diverse in culture, traditions, behaviour. There is a lot of snobbery about accents too.

Manyfeathers: Don't know London at all, but I am keen to bring my heritage & set up a reservation, where people can live in the way my people lived many generations ago.

Would there be any interest?

Give me your thoughts.

Aho, Manyfeathers.

We have lots of nutters here so a few more won't make a difference - yes, come here and join the crowd! Please don't do any raindances here as we have enough rain anyway.

Zellarrone1: We get about 50 flowers a day so can be difficult to reply to all

50 - lol, well I don't get that many!
Personally I think it is rude, and I would always be grateful for any flowers, chocolates, diamonds, furs, holidays in the Caymans etc

Sometimes there can be nowhere to go. There are organisations and shelters, but it takes courage to pack a case and drag your kids into living in one room in some shelter, with no savings in the bank and no means of support. People may be simply scared to leave - it takes courage and it is only when someone leaves that the whole range of DSS benefits, help from a social worker and other help happens.

If the person before you had the same first initial, you must use different answers. You cannot use any word twice and you can't use your name for the boy/girl name question.

Alice_Anne: Broadway_Baby, this is an edited picture where the adult and child have been swapped over to look like, the father is tiny and the child huge

I know that - it is pretty obvious to anyone who sees it.
What is wrong is showing a toothless kid, (probably from tooth decay because he does not look like a 6 month old infant who would have those particular teeth missing) hugely overweight, and a man, who appears to have dwarfism or some sort of disability due to the position and size of his right arm.
Still, if pictures like that rock people's boat, I won't argue with that.

I just saw on television this morning that she has been invited to appear on Orprah Winfrey's show in the US due to a lot of interest over there in her. Simon Cowell has stated that if she does go on that show, her album sales will probably do extremely well. I think it is brilliant for her.

Even if she does not win, she will still most definitely get some work out of this. The moment she sang the first note I appreciated she had talent. She is not a 'power' singer, nor operatic, but has a lovely strong deep voice.

I am going to see Faryl Smith tomorrow evening, who was one of the finalists of last year's Britain's Got Talent. She is appearing in the Royal Albert Hall tomorrow with various other classical music acts.

Wasn't that woman amazing - what a shock! Have a look at the link below to find out more and her act starts immediately after the freesat advert. I wish I had a voice even half as good as that.
