The original name of this town was Clima Prarie, named by a group of settlers who had settled down in 1835.
There is also a Climax in Minnesota.

It's up the road from Fertile.

After a tragic accident, the local newspaper editor didn't see anything wrong with the following headline......

Fertile Woman Dies in Climax

It involves a ladder, an eye patch and a spatula.

Or was it a loin cloth, fire extinguisher and a bar of soap?

On further thought, maybe a baguette, sombrero and baby oil.

No wait, better make that a silk tie, garden hose and raspberries.

Rats, I can't decide.

A flat tax rate above a certain level makes the most sense.

The first 30k is tax free.
15% from there on out.

No loopholes.
No excemptions.

The best concert wasn't a concert at all.

Keg party out at a farmhouse south of town.

Local band was playing and they were decent.

Out of the blue, Dickey Betts joins in and completely melts the place.

What a show.

I'm just the opposite.

If I go out to lunch and see someone eating alone and looking bored, I ask if I can join them. It takes about five minutes for them to figure out that I'm not selling or wanting anything. After that initial pause, I've met some wonderful people.

If everybody took the time to meet strangers, we'd run out of them. grin

Ah, The Great Escape. I had forgotten reading it.

I read it in fifth grade. It had a few pics bound into the book. I think it was my first venture into non-fiction. While I enjoyed the movie, it didn't have one-tenth the impact on me that the book did.

The Godfather is, and probably always will be, my favorite movie. It is the quintessential guy movie.

How could you not love a movie where somebody gets popped and they close the scene with "Leave the gun, take the cannoli". grin
