Well I have to say right here on Quadra Island; or any of the small islands off of Vancouver Island are fantastic! Nothing like paddling a canoe on one of the lakes here, setting up a nice campsite, fishing, swimming, and having a good time with friends - unbeatable to me (but truly there are a lot of beautiful places in Canada - lucky us!).

Well I can't say I've seen one up close, but I've definitely seen one! One time when I was younger (15 if I remember correctly) me and my father were leaving a restaurant when we stopped before getting in the car since we both noticed how unusually clear and starry the night was. We both noticed a spot of light moving across the sky (looked like a satellite but seemed to be moving too fast) which completely stopped after moving about 2/3 of the way across. It hung there for about 3 seconds and then made a streak (like a shooting star) away from the earth and was gone. My dad said "did you see that?" and I said yes, and wow! Then he told me "never tell anyone about this or they'll think we're crazy!" I saw him a little while back and asked him if he remembered it and he did. Sorry that's not up close, but I swear it's true!

Well, aside from my parents I'd have to say my old bass teacher, Ed Deitz. He was an amazing man who inspired me greatly, and taught me important lessons about having fun without destroying yourself or compromising your morals. It was only at his funeral that I learned that he played something like 8 instruments at the professional level and had actually won a Pulitzer prize for journalism to boot (no kidding)!

Love you Ed. Hope I get to see you on the other side.

I believe real love takes time; unfortunately I find that most women I have encountered expect something to develop instantly or not at all (trapping me in the friend zone forever unless I just jump right in with whoever I'm attracted to). People these days seem to want to pick Mr or Mrs Right out of a selection of Mr and Mrs Nexts, as opposed to waiting to get to know someone first and then determining whether or not you should go there.

When I was a kid at summer camp I used to eat raw meatloaf (and I kid you not it tastes WAY better than when it's cooked)!

Any of you try peanut butter, bananas, and mayo on toast? Delicious!

O4C is right. Who cares if someone recognizes you - you'd just have something in common to talk about right?

Well I recently read a study that took a sampling of dating site reported ages and said:

Suspicious spikes in ages in a random sample of 1000 female and 1000 male profiles from Match.com suggest that online daters lie about their ages. The curve for males has a small spike at age 32 and a larger one at age 36. The number of men claiming to be 36 is 84 percent higher than the average frequency of men claiming to be between ages 37 and 41 - a difference more than seven times larger than could be expected by chance. For women, three clear spikes occur at ages 29, 35, and 44. The difference between the number of women claiming to be 29 and the average frequency of women claiming to be between the ages of 30 and 34 is nearly eight times larger than could be expected by chance. The difference between the number of women claiming to be 35 and the average frequency of women claiming to be between the ages of 36 and 43 is more than five times larger than could be expected by chance.

Personally lying seems counterproductive to me. Attraction is more important than age (within reasonable limits) anyway right?

If I had one woman hit on me for every 10 guys that do I would be married by now. I've had guys chase me down the street, whistle at me, open up the door of a bar and try to entice me inside, or literally try to remove my pants (in more private situations). Couples come onto me almost as often as guys do. I tell them that I just don't swing that way and try to take it as a compliment. A compliment I get from men WAY too much.

Well you never know what you're going to find, so I try to have no expectations. That said, I would like to find a wife, have some kids, and be the best husband and father I can be. Hope I get the chance.

Well, I sing songs to my dogs. Usually familiar songs with the lyrics spontaneously changed so that they are about my dogs. They like it a lot but it's probably pretty quirky to most people.

Yeah I took out one woman I met online who was much larger than her photos seemed to be; it's a shame (she was nice) but I spent the whole date wondering why she would misrepresent herself like that. Seems better to be as honest as possible to me - she wasn't unattractive, just bigger than my type - so why not be honest so as to find real mutual attraction?

Hmm. Thanks for the input everyone. I'll keep it for a little while longer and see if I can garner some female attention, but if not it'll go in the next couple of months. I guess it can always grow back...

I've been a long-haired fellow since I was a teenager, but these days it seems most women don't like it and I'm finally considering cutting it off. What do you think?

Thanks for your input.

I think it will work out for you. Best wishes!
