In response to:
the sad thing some of these guys are very talented and some the music is very good as well !
if they were to forget the gangster part of it they would make very good artist in my opinion
but as a reggae once told me " when i make good songs about love people don't want to buy them ...but if i make rough bashment type of music ( thats jamaican reggae with course lyrics ...some of it with negative vibes ) ! then people buy that !
he said "you can't make good reggae music to make money these days ..its got to be pure slackness " ( meaning derogerative music )
MEANING SLAGGING OFF GROUPS OF PEOPLE
OR ELSE NOBODY BUYS IT
i think theres more things wrong with the people that buy it than the people that make it ...and there are millions of them
the real question is ....
WHY DO PEOPLE BUY IT ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Exactly.
I am admittedly a hypocrit and no better than the vast majority of the people out there. My favorite films are horror and I listen to some gangster rap, though I've never bought a CD.
Violence holds some sort of allure to a lot of people. Perhaps it's the fact that it's lawfully forbidden, or the fact that we think about doing a lot of things mentioned in the songs but never actually do them.
I agree with your Reggae acquaintance. And I have actually heard something similar before. There are a lot of artists out there that only make negative music because they know it's what people want to hear.
should gangster rap be banned ?...for using insulting words and inciting voilence ?: click here to read the entire thread »
