steadfast3255: So I have noticed that emails and flowers just are not really cutting it on here and i am trying to figure it all out. I am fairly new to this online deal and I am truly looking to find someone that I am compatible with and I can get to know..any suggestions for this???

Like everything in life, finding "the one" takes time. If you're new to the site and are looking for instant gratification, what you'll find will not be love. Remember that patience is a virtue. Open communication with all types of people, and don't limit yourself to the Ohio forums. Find a friend or a few first. You may be pleasantly surprised what that might become. Good fortune in your quest. comfort

Tater: I love how so many people will give Obama a free pass and make excuses for why, what he said before and what he is doing don't match... I love it..

gozoman2: What IS he doing?

Hasn't even taken power yet.....

Thank you, gozoman2. All of our presidents have been able to pass go and collect $200 at least once. I wasn't making excuses, I was stating my opinion. Obama's free pass came when elected to the position.

I liked McCain much less than Obama. I think it will be next to impossible in four years for Obama to undo much of the chaos created in the last eight years by Bush, let alone keep any promises for a better tomorrow for America. But I do believe he will make a decent attempt. I think McCain would have just dug a deeper grave for us. JMO.

It's cold enough here that a pipe burst in my bathroom just about three hours ago. I'm having a lovely day, thank you.

venere08: Yes, so true. And if every person made one other person smile, that's everyone taken care of, right?

Everybody knows at least one person, so you'd think such a simple thought as that is would work. But the world is too big, and the one person that someone else knows may not even give a shit if that other person died. At this point in my life, as long as my son smiles because of me, I'll leave this world knowing he's the only one that mattered, and I did something right.

Personally, farting under the sheets loses its charm after a few months, but fluffing the sheets afterward is just downright rude. I tolerated it for twelve years only because he was so damn proficient in. . .

venere08: Thank you, Lucid. Yours and Forever's Rainbow poem are both precious.

And yes, helping so much.

It does help with so many lovely words said here, to reaffirm we are doing the right thing.

And for the rest of living.

Much of my life these days, I live in a way that I prepare for 'the last day' as it were. Just trying to do my best, though often fall so short.

We all have our shortcomings. That you know you have made the heart of someone else smile in this lifetime should be all the preparation you need to meet 'the last day.' You are a gem.

venere08: Another CS'er kindly told me about this beautiful poem, to help with the pending decision of whether to tell my parents when it is the last day they will see our dear 4-legged friend. So they can say their goodbyes before I take her for her last visit to the Animal Hospital.

So I thought I would share it here.

IF I KNEW

Author: Copyright ? George Michael Grossman

If I knew it would be the last time
That I'd see you fall asleep,
I would tuck you in more tightly
and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.
If I knew it would be the last time
that I see you walk out the door,
I would give you a hug and kiss
and call you back for one more.
If I knew it would be the last time
I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,
I would video tape each action and word,
so I could play them back day after day.
If I knew it would be the last time
I could spare an extra minute
to stop and say " I love you,"
instead of assuming you would KNOW I do.
If I knew it would be the last time
I would be ther to share your day,
Well I'm sure you'll have so many more,
so I can let just this one slip away.
For surely there's always tomorrow
to make up for an oversight,
and we always get a second chance
to make everything just right.
There will always be another day
to say " I love you,"
And certainly there's another chance
to say our " Anything I can do?"
But just in case I might be wrong,
and today is all I get,
I'd like to say how much I love you
and hope we never forget.
Tomorrow is not promised to anyone,
young or old alike,
And today may be the last chance
you get to hold your loved one tight.
So if you're waiting for tomorrow,
why not do it today?
For if tomorrow never comes,
you'll surely regret the day,
That you didn't take that extra time
for a smile, hug, or a kiss
and you were to busy to grant someone,
what turned out to be their one last wish.
So hold your loved ones close today,
and whisper in their ear,
Tell them you'll alway hold them dear
Take time to say " I'm sorry,"
"Please forgive me," "Thank you," or " It's okay."
And if tomorrow never comes,
you'll have no regrets about today.

I hope it helped. bouquet

venere08: Thanks Lucid,

It's a horrible thing, isn't it. I just took her for a walk around the neighbourhood, and she loved it. And now I need to ask my parents whether they want me to tell them which day Amber is booked in. I'm between a rock and a hard place. They are in their early 80's and not telling them will save them the heartache of them knowingly saying their very last goodbye. I want to be able to take Amber there on Tuesday so they can spend time with her all day, and just her home and then to the hospital, and maybe tell them from there. It will be much less distressing for them.

If you've never seen it before, you should Google a poem called "If I Knew." Read that, and even share it with your parents; then all of you can make the decision of how to handle that final goodbye. Unfortunately, it's one of those situations that is distressing any way you choose to go. The hard choice is generally the right choice.

venere08: I do love animals. They give so much unconditional love and good energy. I don't mean to hijack this thread but what I am about to say is very much related to the topic.

I have just made an appointment with the local Animal Hospital to have our beautiful Red Heeler X, Amber, to be euthanased next Tuesday evening. I am already a mess. The tumour in her left has become bulbous and has started to break through the skin. We have had the privilege of her friendship and company for three years when she was 8yrs old, from Animal Welfare. She had been badly abused in her life, so we want her to remember just the happy times since being with us. Everyone who has met her, adores her. I drop her off at my parents before going off to work, just as one would their grandchild. They love her so much.

Tomorrow morning, I will take her to the river so she can paddle along the water's edge, and over the next couple of days have everyone say their goodbyes. The other day, my GF from Greece, and who adores Amber, rang and I held the phone next to Amber's ears so she could hear Jenny's voice. I just informed my niece to pass it on to everyone home so they can say their goodbyes, too.

And she talks, boy does she talk to us. She looks into our eyes, listens and 'mouths' and talks back. I am so not looking forward to doing this. For me, she is absolutely no different from a human being.

I'm also an animal lover who has had to say goodbye to a "member of the family" in that same way, and my heart goes out to you. I respect your not being selfish and for putting your friend Amber's best interest first. Doing the right thing is always the best thing, though it is not always the easy thing. You will both be at peace now. angel
