You see, everytime I hear about a "Strong" Central Government,I get extremely suspicious.
Look what unwieldy Monstrosity the Austrian-Hungarian Empire Bureaucracy was..That's why I wonder sometimes, whether a Political Union in Europe was the best way to go.

I agree with strong central goverment being worrysome. The political union in the EU is however not that, nor similar to the Austrian-Hungarian empire, in that its power lies with the member states - nothing can be made into EU laws without all member states agreeing, or in some cases a majority of them.

It is very easy to start saying that 'Brussels does this' and 'Brussels decides that' - what we need to remember is that the people in Brussels making the final decisions on all this are the representatives from all the EU governments. Thus the EU is not governed by a central body in the traditional sense.

The European Union is in fact unique in the world, in the way it is organized - simultaneously an inter-national and supra-national entity.

Globalization cannot coexist with nationalism...

If the countries are to work as corporations, it's good for the market to have a representation from where the goods or components come from. It's marketing.Answer the question

Yes, nationalism can coexist with European identity, meaning, no federation, let it be this way it's much more fun this way. If federation comes, then nationalism won't coexist with it... or even "better" there is no issue...

Whatever

It already does... conversing

A federalized EU would not entirely exclude national identity, nor the possibility of nationalism - it is not as simple as black and white.

Now I see why and how these arguments here start. This entire Thread has been hilarious and then for some reason degenerated into personal mud-slinging and insults, which I find highly amusing.

So I made what I thought was an attempt at weak humour, referring to a long ago member who lasted on CS for about 24 hours and caused much hilarity with "her" writings and how the guys responded......

Most obviously my timing was out ...... I did not expect a vitipurous reply to my posting.

SweetCherryCreamPie got the MEN on the site excited. "She" only made me laugh, and being no longer a member of CS, tis not possible to write to "her" even if I wanted to.

The essence of any form of correspondence is to try your best to not invalidate other people, or accuse them of things you have no knowledge of, or to use derogatory name calling - This I address to all the above respondents in this Thread.... Otherwise this lovely thread will simply be anhialated by the moderators of the site.

Also to remember is the fact that no-one here knows by how thin a thread other peoples lives hang, and one can very innocently be the instrument of their misery, or worse. Words are easy to write, or to say, but their vibrations continue for a long time, in the minds they are adressed to.
