ttom500: US just placed US Africa Command into existance as a training
unit to African Nations forces so they can handle thier own troubles. The US had Naval ships off Solomia (priracy) for a number of years. The US is the single largest contributer to fighting AIDs
in Africa..both in medical research and funding in the world.
The US gives more food to Africa than any other country in the
world via it aid program.

If African are murdering Africans, don't blame the United State.
We cannot be every place in world. Blame Africans.

agman: I don't mind people throwing shoes at me, if I can wear them.
I wonder if the journalist will get his shoes back?

Nope they are holding them for evidence and the journalist as well. There are protest going on now in the Arab world about this:

"...Journalist Muntadhar al-Zeidi, who was kidnapped by militants last year, was being held by Iraqi security Monday and interrogated about whether anybody paid him to throw his shoes at Bush during a press conference the previous day in Baghdad, said an Iraqi official.

He was also being tested for alcohol and drugs, and his shoes were being held as evidence, said the official, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to the media...

"Iraq considers Sunday as the international day for shoes," said a joking text message circulating around the Saudi capital Riyadh....

"This is a farewell kiss, you dog," al-Zeidi yelled in Arabic as he threw his shoes. "This is from the widows, the orphans and those who were killed in Iraq."

Al-Zeidi's tirade was echoed by Arabs across the Middle East who are fed up with U.S. policy in the region and still angry over Bush's decision to invade Iraq in 2003 to topple Saddam Hussein.

The Arab response was ecstatic.

"Al-Zeidi is the man," said 42-year-old Jordanian businessman Samer Tabalat. "He did what Arab leaders failed to do."...

BAGHDAD — Thousands of Iraqis took to the streets Monday to demand the release of a reporter who threw his shoes at President George W. Bush, as Arabs across many parts of the Middle East hailed the journalist as a hero and praised his insult as a proper send-off to the unpopular U.S. president...

Showing the sole of your shoe to someone in the Arab world is a sign of extreme disrespect, and throwing your shoes is even worse...

"Iraq considers Sunday as the international day for shoes," said a joking text message circulating around the Saudi capital Riyadh.

Palestinian journalists in the West Bank town of Ramallah joked about who would be brave enough to toss their shoes at Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, another U.S. official widely disliked in the region.

Hugz_n_Kissez: I speak freely about myself and things in my past..there is not anything that I am or have to be ashamed about....things of the past have helped mold us into the people we are today....so I don't think you can ever talk tooooooooo much about it...as for those who want to judge people based on it...well they aren't really my cuppa tea anyway.....so I lose out on nothing.......

Hi everyone, good subject.

I agree with you Hugz and speak freely about myself as a rule, and I enjoy sharing the information in bantering conversation if possible. I do not always give all the gory details if I'm not ready to do so but I can say I'm truthful

There is one thing that will shut me down rather quickly. I get irked if I begin to feel as if I'm being interviewed for a job, with my whole history in a laundry list right off the bat. I think that is rude and rather an invasion of my privacy.

At least one of those gentlemen in one of our first communications of of the blue said "I have 5 cars", as if that was something supposed to impress me. There was nothing soft said before or after just that. There was also nothing in common with him. (not to surprising)

BnaturAl: ya i\I know sky ... it isn't so much resisting for me, I do hate to ignore people. Should they chose to speak to me, I feel somewhat intent on responding, call it social duty or something, and in some cases I just find someone being dysfunctional and posting only to be as they often accuse others, being "antagonistic'. Really most times I am just goiing with the flow.

I appreciate your posts, you challenge me with knowledge and are generally coming from a position of assistance or sharing information. The rest is kind of like dealing with a barking dog while you're trying to communicate

You generally don't come here without something to add that has value Sky, even if others don't follow the links you offer or the words you post. I have actually picked up a great deal from things you post, stuff I hadn't thought of or new leads to things I am already researching.

Your a good man Al and thanks for the Kudos, I'm not perfect in any way except maybe being perfectly me.

BnaturAl: I understand what you are saying sky but your ideas function well in context of the framed environment you noted. (in a nurturing family) In a dysfunctional environment it does not work, it just isn't functional. I won't go into the psyhcology of it all, and given that a lot of people "bring" their own emotions to bare on anothers words, it even starts out dysfunctional.

Again the methods you suggest work well in a functional nurturing family, not in an environment with dysfunctional personalities.

It's pretty much a given that posting on the political and religious threads that there is going to be a crazy environment and some dysfunctional people my dear.

They are the hardest ones for me to resist too. laugh laugh laugh

StressFree: I've read the thread.

BnaturAL has not personally attacked anyone.

He just presents his views on Christianity and that's it.

He may say that some people are in denial (OMFG what an asshole), but he's more attacking the Christian religion's influence and history in our world.

He's misunderstood. He sees the big picture and the frame of reference of the knowledge and history (alternate) he is reasoning from is a bit broader than most others. Does not make him a better person, but somebody with more depth in the information that is sitting in his freakish head.

I see more attacking on BnaturAL than anything else.

Please don't report me to the mods...tattle tells

Boys have way too much testosterone to always play nice don't you think?

Not putting anyone down, a Dr. gave me shot of the shit telling me I need it once.

I finally calmed down but I got a real respect for you guy's handling that hormone zipping through your system.

Yes I've seen that too and it's very hard not to react to that nonsense. I've been guilty of feeling personally attacked and reacting myself. I'm no .angel

I hear you my brother, but don't you see that you yourself are judging this way. Rather like the pot and kettle story isn't it?

If people push your buttons 'till you become a button pusher who then is in the right? Who will listen to either of you? All that inspires is more judgment.

My flavor would be in all I say or do don't you think. I'll agree to that. Misinterpreting you , no don't think so, I can separate your basic message from the language you are at times using towards people.

Throwing in words that would cause a fight or insult, degenerates the message and becomes personal.

I don't think you would speak to someone you cared about this way unless it is just a pattern of your speech.

A friend of mine put it very well:

“The colossal misunderstanding of our time is the assumption that insight will work with people who are unmotivated to change.

Communication does not depend on syntax, or eloquence, or rhetoric, or articulation but on the emotional context in which the message is being heard.

People can only hear you when they are moving toward you, and they are not likely to when your words are pursuing them. Even the perfect words lose their power when they are used to overpower.

Attitudes are the real figures of speech. Feelings of worth can flourish only in an atmosphere where individual differences are appreciated, mistakes are tolerated, communication is open, and rules are flexible -- the kind of atmosphere that is found in a nurturing family”
