gift Happy Holidays to everyone! gift

We’d like to invite you to view a little holiday greeting that some of our staff put together for you (don’t blame me for this one).

Click on eCards in the top nav, then click "eCard From CS" in the left sidebar.
Or use this link: http://www.connectingsingles.com/eCardFromCS.aspx

We’d also like you to check out a new feature we just installed. We’ve added CS eCards with Christmas and Holiday greetings for you to customize with a note and a holiday greeting, then send to member friends. A variety of others will be added after the holidays. You may use one of the already made cards or you can create a template for a card of your own. And as always, this feature is totally free for you to use here.

We hope you have as much fun with these cards as we’ve had developing this feature.

We care for you all and we’re glad you are members.
Wishing you a safe and peaceful holiday
And lots of great connections here in the New Year.

Have any of you clicked on Polls in your top navigation bar yet? Here is some info about the new polls feature at ConnectingSingles:
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

CS Polls is a new connecting tool on the site that allows you to post a question along with several multiple choice answers in a poll format, and get opinions from members about things that interest you. The polls may also provide interesting topics for discussion in the forums.

Enter a question with up to 10 multiple-choice answers. Each time a member votes on your poll, the total counts will be updated and the poll results will display on a bar graph. Polltakers will have the choice to enter a formal comment to the poll question in the Polls area and (when designated by the poll author) to enter discussion about the poll in a poll forum thread. Polls are easy to use and pretty much self-explanatory. You'll learn the features as you go along.

All polls are available to be voted on by all members. But NOT all polls have to be forum polls... it's up to each poll author. You can create a poll either to appear in the Canada Forums (where it is open for discussion here), OR you can create a poll to appear only in the formal Polls area (open for comments there only). You should not create duplicates.

We created these two choices because some authors may want to keep their poll in the Polls area where comments may be more serious, more focused and less likely to go off topic than a forum poll might, while other poll authors may prefer the more active, casual discussion of their poll in a forum thread.

To start a poll that WILL appear in your Canada Forums for discussion:
Click the new "CREATE NEW POLL" button above in the light green Forum nav bar (in your top navigation of a forum page, next to "Create New Thread").
Polltakers may vote directly in the first post of a poll thread.

To start a poll that will NOT appear in the Forums:
Click the "POLLS" link in the dark green top navigation bar.
Comments may then be entered in that Polls area only.
These polls will receive more focused comments that will not be as likely to go off topic as “sometimes” happens in a forum thread.

To view and vote on Polls created by other members:
Click “POLLS” in the dark green top nav bar to view and start voting.
Click “All Polls” to see a list of all the polls that have been entered so far

Voting:
Voting on polls is anonymous, usernames are not listed. Click on the "Vote Breakdown" link underneath a poll to see how the voting on that poll is broken down by gender and age (this is interesting).

To see the results of the poll in any thread:
Click on the "Results" tab and it will show you a bar graph of the voting. Click on the "Poll" tab to cast your vote.

We hope this is an interesting addition to the site and that you will find thought-provoking questions and topics that will be of interest to Canada members to vote on, comment on, and discuss.

Happy Holidays

This is to introduce the new opinion polls feature we have added for you at Connecting Singles.

Polltakers will have the choice to enter a formal comment to the poll question in the Polls area and, in some cases, to enter discussion about the poll topic in a poll forum thread. Polls are easy to use and pretty much self-explanatory. You'll learn the features as you go along.

You can create a poll either to appear in the Forums like this one ( where it is open for discussion here), or you can create a poll to appear only in the formal Polls area (open for comments there only).

To start a poll that WILL appear in the Forums for discussion:
Click the new "CREATE POLL" button at the top right of the forum page, next to "New Thread".
Polltakers may vote directly in the first post of a poll thread.

To start a poll that will NOT appear in the Forums:
Click the "POLLS" link in the top navigation bar.
Comments may be entered in this Polls area only.

After several polls have been entered, you may find an interesting poll created by another member that is not appearing in the forum. If you think that poll would lead to good forum discussion, you may move the poll into the Forum by clicking a link on the poll's comment page that says "Start Forum Discussion".

Voting:
Voting on polls is anonymous, usernames are not listed. Click on the "Vote Breakdown" link underneath a poll to see how the voting on that poll is broken down by gender and age.

To see the results of the poll in this or any thread:
Click on the "Results" tab and it will show you a bar graph of the voting. Click on the "Poll" tab to cast your vote.

We hope this is an interesting addition to the site and that you will find thought-provoking questions and topics to enter, comment on, and discuss.

Happy Holidays

Forums... Blogs... Yes, it may seem confusing, but blogs are not just another forum. For those who haven't seen it, here's a copy of the info blurb from the "What's a Blog?" link on the 'All Blogs' page that may help.

- - - - - - - -
A Blog is a journal you may enter about your life, your thoughts, interesting experiences, or lessons you have learned. It's a homepage on Connecting Singles that you can update on a regular basis, or just whenever you have something to say. You can write about an opinion, impart words of wisdom, or talk about something interesting in your day. Creating a blog is a good way to share something of yourself with Connecting Singles members. Reading blogs is a good way to learn more about members you have met here.

A blog IS NOT a personal-ad describing yourself or the person you are seeking. You already have a profile on the site for that.

A blog is NOT for one-to-one chatting. You have onsite email for that. Click the "Email" button on a member's profile.

A blog IS NOT a Forum for discussion, debate, advice or asking questions of other members. Join the Connecting Singles Forums for these purposes.

You may use your blog to record your thoughts, opinions and ideas. All blogs are open to viewing by the public and to comments from other members. You may read and then delete those comments to your blog if you wish. You may edit your own blog, however, you may not edit your comment to another member's blog.

Purple Navigation bar.
Use links in the purple navigation bar at the top of blog pages, to navigate the Connecting Singles Blog area:
All Blogs - click to see list of all blogs entered by members
Women Blogs - click to see only blogs entered by female members
Men Blogs - click to see only blogs entered by male members
Edit Blog - this is your admin page for your blog. Click to view/edit blogs you entered and delete comments.
Post to my Blog - click to enter a new blog, or post to your existing blog.

Definitions
Blog - is your journal here
Entry - one of your posts in your blog
Comment - feedback posted by members to your blog entry

Enjoy...

Welcome to the forums, you guys! I have been to Brainerd several times. Never been to Park Rapids.

I finished shoveling, just now... Took me two days because I don't have a snow blower. D'oh! Usually I don't need one though. I've forgotten how heavy the snow is when there is that much of it...it's hard work.

Give it time, the forums will grow. New forums always take a while to get going.

I can certainly understand that...even watching the cross country skiers go by on the frozen lake outside my window, makes it hard to stay inside.

Yep, 20 below IS pretty crazy...

We’ve added Washington DC Forums to give our Connecting Singles members from Washington DC a place of their own to post. This area will be available to Washington DC members only.

Don't worry about being one of the first to post. Introducing yourself is a great way to break the ice and start getting acquainted.

Maybe new members don’t know about these forums, don’t understand what to do, or just need a little encouragement. How about an invitation from you to join the group and post here? – maybe even set a time to meet in the forums. Get to know some local members by writing and inviting Washington DC members to join you here. If several forum posters chose a few Washington DC members each day and send them an invitation through the CS mail, you will see this forum become active.

There is a flower message that says “Meet me in the Connecting Singles Forums” you could send also – but a mail message could give more information and may work better.

For those of you who are new to forum posting here’s a short HowTo:
There is a Forums Navigation Bar underneath the main navigation bar at the top of this page. The ‘All Threads’ page is where all threads are listed- in order of most recent activity date at the top of the list.

If you have a new topic of interest and want to START A NEW THREAD:
click on 'Start New Thread' in the Forum navigation bar, choose an appropriate category, type your response and press 'submit'. Your thread will appear on the list of 'All Threads' and members will be able to view and post to it.

If you read a thread and want to REPLY TO A THREAD:
Click on the 'Reply to this Thread' button at the upper right of the page inside the thread. Type your response and submit. Your post will appear at the end of that thread- in the order it was submitted.

Please be sure to read the rules before you post...

Let’s get this Washington DC forum started!
