There's a few people I'd like to assist in their suicide:
Jeremy Clarkson
all the celebrity chefs
Piers Morgan
Kelvin McKenzie
George Bush (although he is brain dead already)
all lunatic drivers
....and the list goes on and on

There's a Scottish fizzy drink (soda) called Irn Bru. Ask any Scot what the perfect hangover cure is and he or she will answer Irn Bru immediately. Coke is apparently the most popular soft drink in every country in the world except one - Scotland. Irn Bru has that honour here. It's fantastic.

Actually, I think we should tackle the "do badders" before the do gooders.

Decent people are decent people, no matter where they come from, so I don't think that running anyone down who doesn't pass the famous "cricket test" is fair.

Unfortunately we have a society that almost accepts violence on the streets as inevitable, with some seeing this as the normal way to go about their lives. Added to that, greed is almost seen as a virtue in business. Whether it be City slickers gambling on stocks with no regard for the results of their actions, or bosses treating their staff like crap to increase profits, it's all leads to a poorer society for us all to live in.

Some famous guy once said that you should do unto others what you would have them do unto you. Basically, respect yourself and respect others. If we could get back to something basic like that, a lot of the other problems would sort themselves out. Hey, whatever happened to that guy?

Meanwhile, back in the real world.........

Their legacy is the continuing situation in Iraq; another war that can't be won. Hey, did anyone find those pesky weapons of mass destruction anyway? They were why we piled into the country in the first place. They must be really well-hidden.

Mel Gibson as William Wallace in "Braveheart"

"Aye, fight and you may die. Run, and you'll live... at least a while. And dying in your beds, many years from now, would you be willin' to trade ALL the days, from this day to that, for one chance, just one chance, to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they'll never take... OUR FREEDOM!"

People in cinemas in Scotland went absolutely mad when they heard that. It was bizarre, my first experience of audience participation in a movie.

How did I miss all this good music as it floated about in the 1990's?

Aye, all this talk about global warming; it looks like Glasgow and Dublin are being excluded from the warm-up. It's unfair!

I can see Europe's biggest windfarm from my office window. Yes, we have plenty of wind too. Ain't we lucky!

Much the same as here in the west of Scotland, although the rain in July is usually warmer than the rain in December.

I think the worst threads are those that start out well but get hijacked with useless banter like, hi how are you today or threads that degenerate into a nonsensical catfight. Threads that serve no purpose other than to achieve some inflated page count or those that are created and perpetuated with no agenda other than to keep it on page one. Or the ones where people respond with nothing more than
or or If you want to respond in a thread, put a few words together, stop acting like a retard. I've seen quadraplegics write a whole book typing with a stick in their mouth You got 2 good hands and 10 fingers and a brain why not use them?

The best threads are those that provide some useful information and many points of view are expressed politely and some consensus is reached if only to agree to disagree.

Poetry threads are largely overlooked because much of what is created on here reads like it was written by a 4th grader or very little effort went into it. Lets see love, dove yeah that works, kiss, bliss oh boy I'm really rhyming now. For gods sake please at least run a spell check on it and proof read it for typos or how about originality? You took the time & trouble to write it, why ruin it with a bunch of typos and misspellings?

Goodbye threads. To me this is just a pity party. Oh please give me some attention or I'm gonna leave. We're not gonna beg you to stay, GTF outta here already. Sorry, my New York side is showing.

Threads about nothing. If you have nothing to say, maybe you need to go get a life and then come back and tell us about it instead of starting a thread.

thumbs up

Someone had to do it!!!!
