I don't know about that.
If Jupiter became a star, even the coolest star possible, I think it's moons would be far too close to it to be inhabitable. They would be completely charred.
The earth is 93 million miles from the sun. Most of the Jupiter’s larger moons are less than 1 million miles from Jupiter. That’s about 100 times closer to Jupiter than the earth is to the sun.
Moreover, the moons are so close to Jupiter that they are locked in synchronous rotations. In other words, only one face of the moons always points toward Jupiter. So the faces of those moons would be scorched and the back sides would be frozen.
What you are discussing here makes for interesting conversation, but from a realistic point of view talking about terraforming Mars or Venus would probably be more practical.
And its already been shown that from a technological point of view instead of attempting to terraform planets a much more practical solution would simply be to build large space-stations. They are much easer to control and more dependable. Plus they can be made more mobile in the event that the sun should begin to fluctuate in it’s output. Space-stations can potentially be transformed into space ships.
This is all interesting. What I’d like to see is human being getting along on their current spaceship called earth. I mean, we can’t even keep a planet going that was once in good shape, and we’re talking about terraforming other planets?
We can’t even seem to control a tiny problem like global warming on Earth. How are we going to terraform entire other worlds?

I think we’d have to feed all the people too. It makes no sense to terraform other planets when we let half our populating starve to death anyway. If we’re that heartless why don’t we just kill all the people on earth that we don’t want around and then we’ll have plenty of room.
Sorry AB, I’m in a depressed mood lately.
