I disagree in that lobbyist do have influence with people of
congress and can and probably do often sway votes their way.
This is why big business has gotten so out of hand. I am sure
Obama is also influenced by corporate activities and McCaine is
is a willing partner with big corporate business. Henceforth excess
greed leads to these problems we have today.

How far is Eagle from a major city, Agman? I not going to check a map....but have been in the state I bet it is a drive.....is at least 100+ miles.

When that national health care service....discontinues your small
town health facilities in Eagle.....because they don't have enough patients....passing thru the door. Enjoy the drive.

Think that I am off?

Check how the VA Hospitals have been operated. There is your national health care in operation. I have told this once before.
Maybe you missed the story in the other thread.

We have a old VA hospital here in Orlando. They have been trying to replace it for 10 years. They did build one.....a 100 miles away...that the local vets feel is to far. So the Federal gov't will mis locate facitilities to where the need is.

Now....the local community, State of Florida, and private organization in that 10 years....actually in the last 6 years.....have put together a
medical coorridor....of a Univeristy teaching hospital, two speciality
hospitals, a medical tech center, and the offices for several 100 DRs.

They are ultra modern facilities, not stamped from a cookie cutter facility of the Federal Gov't engineer service.

Lastly more important than anything mentioned. Why should the private medical industry work in a National Medical Healthcare system?
They will lose thier innovations, thier patents, thier new technologies in a system that has nationalized their efforts. Once they become contractors or employees for the government, that is what happens. We will lose our medical innovation with a National Health Care system.

Think that the JARVIC heart would get done in a National Health Care system? I don't. Those that run the gov't program...would look at the number of possible heart transplants it could cover initually......and say.....well we can do that with tissue heart transplants.....and cut the program. But the JARVIC heart has the potential to cover ALL the heart transplant in the world. But not till it has been proven and mass produced. The gov't does a horrible job in seeing innovation and the future, Agman.

Where do private medical group that are in advanced bio technology, in advanced material medical devices, in new drug and treatment, get funding in your National Health Care system? Pretty dark for them right now with the financial crisis.

Your National Health Care....will soon be handing out asprinin....at the cost of a $1 each. And Agman....you will be making that drive to the big city. jmo

First of all Eagle is a city next to Boise and no I do not have to travel
far for medical service. Amen. As for VA Hospital, all the Vets I have
spoken with have had no complaints about there healthcare. Now
I have notice in the last 5 years that the major hospitals are
expanding in size and setting up other hospitals connected together.
But when I see this I have to ask who is paying for this. Undoubtably
it is the patients and Medicare. Apparently a massive sucking
machine has been built to relieve normal citizens of there wealth
in the event they become ill or if not ill pay increased
Medicare premiums from there employment. Granted competition
leads to advanced quality healthcare but the expense to the
ordinary person is not all that great. Basic healthcare for all citizens
of the US is better than advanced care for those who can pay for
it.

JMHO

Gee Agman...I like Brokaw's work.....but have to admit.....I would not want him to head the Treasury. And was said in fun. Many were laughing in the audience.....we were here. Maybe you are just taking things to seriously.

Now that Obama has flipped to individual health care programs Agman.....have you heard where the individual is going to get the
money for them? I have been listening and not hearing an answer.

He says $2500 dollar from 'preventive medical care'.....hey preventive.....that is me....brushing my teeth and not drinking myself in to a stupor....ok you might say I am there all the time anyways.:-)
The rest is going to come from making our medical records digital and computer based. Last time I was in a hospital or my doctor office.....they both had computer systems. That is pretty well done.

Only at the hospital floor level...in the individual room....is not still computerised. I don't see the return here to pay for the insurance costs. He is dreaming on it.

He is going to take 'on insurance companies' to keep cost down.
I didnot know that insurance companies were doing the heart transplants, and other medical procedures were the medical cost is.
Maybe I got it wrong.....what do you think?

Yes they were laughing at McCaine because he made an idiot of
himself. Do you think I like people talking stupidily when they are
running for president. It was poor taste and he should have known
better. As for health care. The system in america is very much like
reality in america. The value of health care is based on how much
they can extract from patients just as a homes value is based on
how much can be extracted from people willing to buy it. Like
the current problem with housing now the health care has the
same problem. The market is not working. Obama said it right
when he stated health care is a right. Meaning it is availiable to
all who need it, not only availiable to the rich with resources.
The solution McCaine offers is only to keep business running the
show. But in reality it is the government who should be running
the health care business.

In the same non-confrontational spirit I wonder if that is how he will be remembered. Arguably he will be remembered for fighting terrorism in a way that made the problem worse and undermined the USA's moral authority in the long run. The relationships between the US and the Afghan Mujehadin and the US - particularly the Bushes - and the Saudi regime may prove to be problematic when history finally gets written for this era. Perhaps history WILL be kinder to GWB but I genuinely don't believe it.

Have to agree, this president has done so much damage its
nearly unbelieveble. Now I wonder what is left to screw up?

The debate last nite showed how arrogant McCaine is. First
question of the nite was about who should be the new Fed
Chairman. McCaine looks at Brokaw and says not you. Absolutely,
derespectful to Tom. Show me his character of he thinks he knows
it all. McCaine health plan is nothing. He does not know how to
prioritize the problems of today. And the last question of the
nite McCaine didn't even answer it. The question about what
do you not know and how will you find the answer. A simple
question where the answer should have included research,
sound judgement, investigation, consultation, review of history.
thumbs down to McCaine on that debate.
