Ok, I am probably close to the most trusting person on earth, just short of being totally naive and stupid, so don't anyone take my advice please. But I trust people till they give me a reason not to.

Now, I'm not going to trust a stranger with my money or my belongings or my livelihood, or risk my safety or my home and family.

But ... I don't expect people to lie to me, and I've been fairly lucky that most haven't, that I know of. I keep my eyes open, but I don't look for it, if that makes any sense. dunno grin

Tearing it up into itty bitty teeny weeny pieces.

Throwing it into the biggest bonfire on earth. very mad

Watching it light up the sky and float away into the night air. day dream

Doing this dancing elephant to the ashes that fall from the sky.

You're exactly right! I feel much better now. happy place

In the real world certain rules of contact with another apply,
what are your rules of proper etiquette when chasing someone who has sparked your interest/curiosity on the internet scene ?

Do you take the first"not interested"response and move on?
Uh, yeah ... just like IRL. If I say I'm not interested, I'm not changing my mind most likely, and if I do it won't be cause they kept pursuing me. And if someone else is not interested in me, dunno who cares? I respect that.

Do you actively hunt down all their threads and comments and post to them?
No, that is a bit stalkerish, and very irritating.

Do you flower them and write letters to them repeatedly?
Again no. One is all ya get without reciprocation. I'm not like some of the girls, I will send a flower sometimes just to be nice and show interest, if they don't want to respond, that's cool with me, but I'm not gonna keep it up, that would be a bit pathetic.

When / where is the line drawn between very interested and stalker?
The line is when your interest is not returned, and you keep on pursuing it. This ain't the 1800's when women expected to be wooed, and played coy and hard to get till she convinced the guy he'd have to ask her to marry him to get any. Most men and women nowadays, when they say no they mean it.

I am perfectly happy living by myself. Didn't have to reach that point, after spending my entire first 50 years living with someone, I loved it immediately!

That is not to say that if someone I could stand being around on a continuous basis came along I couldn't enjoy it, but I'm not looking for it. I don't need someone around all the time. I like taking care of myself, and just myself. I will never go back to the days of someone else's needs and wants taking precedence over mine.
