Ok, I gotta tell you right off I'm not the world's biggest wine connosiuer (sp?). But after work I hadta stop and get some groceries, and being as how there's only one beer left in the fridge, I felt like a nice bottle of wine would be good. Well, I look at the whole aisle of wines, and pretty much picked one cause I liked the label. And the price. It was a nice Austalian shiraz (sp?), has a picture of a croc on the label, only I thought it was a lizard.
Well I get this thing home, and am looking forward to relaxing with a nice glass. Ok, in spite of the fact that it's probably a half a step above Boone's Farm by the price, this thing has a cork. All right, I've got a corkscrew, hadta buy it last year when I was experimenting with merlot. (Found out that wasn't my cuppa.) But it's not a real cork cork, it's that semi-hard plastic. I go to screwing the corkscrew in and the handle broke off. Well, I'm prepared, I have my own tools. Found the vice grips and proceeded to try and get it out with them. Sumbitch! I had to sit down and get my vice grip thighs involved! I got ahold of the end of the corkscrew with the pliers with the bottle between my legs, and the whole dang thing broke off right at cork level. I was about ready to break the neck off just to get into it! I'd managed to get the cork out far enough by then to clamp the vice grips around it, and managed to wiggle it out. Sheesh!
Frack! Gimme a beer someone, I gotta nice bottle opener that works every time on them!
Actually tastes pretty good, not too sweet, and a nice grapey flavor. Reckon I could get them to open it for me at the store next time?
