Dionysus: I adopted a rescue animal while living in california, a Terrier mix named Daisy. She was 1 day from being put down. We picked her up, and she was in terrible shape. She had kennel cough, and was obviously beaten by her previous owner. She was 2 years old at the time, and was scared to eat, even. She was not housebroken, and had strange, felt-like scabs on her nose.
After several months, she is a happy, well adjusted dog (although she still has a hard time with going potty outside). And to think that she was treated so terribly for so long, and was nearly put to death almost breaks my heart. I am glad that we had the opportunity to turn her life around. It is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done.
