No I had to sit on a hard wooden bench in a room after they had finished questioning me and while they conducted their search of my vehicle, then they said I was free to go. I was already pissed off so I didn't bother with the fuel or the 6 pack of Coors.
It was also getting close to closing time at the border and wanted to make sure I got across there so I didn't have to drive an hour plus to get to another crossing that was open 24 hours.
Some of the small crossings close at 5 pm, and if you're 30 seconds late, you're screwed.

How could anyone drink American Bud?
blushing You obviously have never lived in South Dakota, Kid. It's our champagne down here!scold very mad laugh

Okay, seriously, thanks for clarifying that. Makes perfect sense.

Yep, being glued at the hip all the time isn't good either. I couldn't expect anyone to have an interest in all the things I'm in to. I start talking about cars, building or magnetic resonance and people's eyes start glazing over.

Not ALL interests, true, but the strongest couples I've seen were those who enjoyed many activities together. It's really hard to beat the satisfaction and just plain fun that kind of interaction brings, I think.

Hi Ken...

Probably not

i would rather him enjoy some things i like..and vice versa...

and Eric and i like the waterfalls...picnic...dancing...hiking..and
so on...

How could a relationship work if we didnt enjoy things..

you need to spend some leisure time with each other...

How can you have ur things to do and his things to do..but not
with each other...

How can one grow and love each other..if lot of time apart...

Agree completely with this, Ken. All those activities are the practical means of bondage...I mean, bonding with each other.blushing wink

Oh, very good questions, Ken. Yeah, I think it matters a lot. It's those little things when you're spending serious time with someone that often either annoy the hell out of you or make your time more enjoyable.

I don't think people who are Activity Incompatible can be compatible. It's that important, imo.dunno wink laugh sad flower

The last time I tried to cross they flat out asked me why I was going back to the US seeing as how I was there 3 days prior and at a different border crossing and they knew full well that I had crossed at that border a week or so earlier. That's when they asked me to pull off to the side, searched my van and detained me for a while, so I turned around and wen home.

I was going there to get cheap fuel and a 6 pack of Coors. I'm only 15 minutes from the border where my place in BC is located.

Hmmm...well, that's pretty solid evidence for your contention, Kid.

I wonder wtf their problem was...you'd think they would like someone coming across to purchase Coors...oh, wait...I'm thinking if you'd said "Bud" it all might've gone differently...

So how did you break off their search? I wouldn't think they'd stop until they felt they were damn well finished. You're saying you said "enough, I'm going home," and they stopped their search and said "Here's your hat, what's your hurry?"laugh confused

They knew when I had crossed the border, and questioned me about it and why I had made so many trips to the US. The Canadian side only wanted duties and taxes when I came back, no questions.

Are you sure about that, Kid? True, in my case they knew I'd made several trips because they asked me about it every damn time.

I imagined they could find me on their computer records with a couple of keystrokes, but as yet I don't have evidence that the agents in the booths actually do that (or can do that).

I'm just not sure about this. I only know what they've told me, assuming they aren't bullshitting me (and that may be an unwarranted assumption).

yes, it is alright to tell a total stranger that she (or he) is pretty. As long as the significant other is not within ear shot.

It is safer to tell a stranger that you find them attractive. If you say this to a person you know, it could lead to a possible relationship, then a romantic relationship. This in turn could, concievably, lead to marriage. Of course the final step in the natural progression of things is divorce. So you see, never tell a person you know that they are attractive, because it leads to divorce and the toral breakdown of the family unit as we have come to hold near and dear to our hearts.

Yeah, or at least someone we could send complaints to.

Although I'm sure that would end up on our "file" at the border.

They have way too much access to info on individuals. It's creepy that they know more about me than my parents do.

I assumed that, but I'm not sure it's true. When I asked several immigration officers what they knew about me - saying that I assumed they had records of my travels across the border - they replied emphatically that they had NO knowledge about my travels or about me...until they made me sign into their "guest/visitor" paper work. NOW they know something about me and my love...but why do I think they'll ask the same damn questions over and over again every fucking time I go up to Canada?? frustrated very mad

An interesting thing...I got a lot of respect when I showed righteous indignation. Maybe I was just lucky...but I wonder if they subscribe to the cop's dictum that innocent people protest their innocence freely??confused dunno

Yeah, it's fucking amazing the personal questions some of those creeps ask. It's almost as though they're getting off on it...or perhaps they're intentionally trying to provoke you? Zeus only knows. And it's so damn random...some agents will ask a couple of perfunctory questions, while others want to know what's your fave sexual position.

Go fucking figure... There ought to be laws that make these people accountable, imho.mumbling rolling eyes
