I've only been on a brief visit to Ireland, so don't know if this issue is about the culture there or what. In the States I had a couple of long term relationships with black men, one three years long. Some people look, but I don't think most were staring or had looks of distaste. Anyway, I just ignore it. I got used to it early on as one of my first boyfriends, in high school, was a black guy. Maybe in the States we're more used to seeing interracial couples. Anyway, in the long run, it shouldn't matter at all what other people think--different culture, race--whatever. It could be a problem when/if there are children, but my observation is that strong, thoughtful parenting can overcome that, or anything else.

thumbs up

Yeh, It's too common here for people to gaze, unless they are intrigued by how much the couple is inlove and showing public affection. If you are staring at anything for too long here in the states, people would think you are just a tourist, and offer assistance, they may say things like, Um, is there a problam, are you ok, what the hell are you looking at, got an eye problem, need help, are you lost, etc etc...rolling on the floor laughing

Anyway the point of this I notice when we go out some people blatantly stare...( he is dark-skinned..well caramel to be exact as he is half Jamaican..and fine!)
I find their distasteful looks to be absurd in this day and age..I have dated a few men of other cultures and never really consider it a problem.
It got me to thinking about interracial relationships and the problems that arise with exogamy...what are your thoughts and do you consider it acceptable to both yourself and your extended family??

people are people no matter what color they are.... I guess being from Chicago, and a very diverse family, I never paid any attention to the color of ones skin. I am now in Arizona, and it seems that even more people date outside of thier race here...I guess, you should go with whatever makes you happy, and dont focus on who is staring at you, focus on the person you are with.

D in this COLOR or a tad bit darker would be cute with a silver sandal.

With A I would wear my peek-toe black patent leather heels.

I would def go with a strappy sandal with dress A, and probably not black because then it makes it a bit boring..... You will still be cute, but a sandal would be a bit sexier with that dress.

For the red, it depends on what kind of red....gold/bronze sandal is better with a lighter red.Red and silver with a darker deeper red.....RED

it depends on your body type honestly. And, looks like A would be the best from looking at the pictures and C is most def not the one for you, or that model that is wearing it. Atleast from my view JMO

I have one similar to A and D from BCBG and A looks good on any body shape. Its really classy and sexy.

For those of you saying Obama didnt want to debate Hillary:

Clinton has agreed to a debate next week, but Obama has not accepted the invitation.

At an appearance in Raleigh, North Carolina, Obama said he has a lot of campaigning to do in a limited amount of time.

Obama said he had agreed to an earlier debate, but Clinton declined that one. (now, should we flip this and say, Hillary is scared and doesnt want to debate Obama, or should we understand as adults, that both these candidates, and even McCain may be a bit busy trying to campaign and when they have time for another waste of 90minutes with reporters asking questions that dont really address america's real concerns, they will allow the media more footage to mis interpret.) "I'll be honest with you, we've now had 21," he said. "It's not as if we don't know how to do these things. I could deliver Sen. Clinton's lines; she could, I'm sure, deliver mine."

Obama said he has to look at his schedule, considering the upcoming primaries.

The two Democrats went head-to-head in a debate Wednesday night on ABC.

During the first part of that debate, the candidates largely rehashed the controversies that have marked their past six weeks on the campaign trail.

Much of the fire was leveled at Obama, who once again answered questions about controversial statements by his former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, and his own comments that some rural Pennsylvanians are "bitter."

Obama said it took too long for them to address anything substantial.
"Last night, we set a new record, because it took us 45 minutes before we even started talking -- until we started talking about a single issue that matters to the American people," he said.

"Now, I don't blame Washington for this; that's just how Washington is. ... They like stirring up controversy; they like playing 'gotcha' games. ..

(I don't agree with all his tactics, if you read one of the obama threads a while back, you'll see a fiew few of my views on Rev. Wright, you'll see that I said, I dont agree with all that he has to say. However Tom, I see that by you quoting him, you do. This is good to know.)

You say those are unfounded claims and total distortions (when did I say this?). When you ladies got empowered with the vote and with women's liberation...and became this majority...seems to me that you also got to take blame when something goes wrong. Seems like a lot has gone wrong. (http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/00000.html according to this, women dont make up the majority of the workforce hun, men do, and, if YOU want to point fingures fingers at who is running things, this info will better direct you. I am fine eitherway, no matter who is running what.)

just wanted to make sure everyone understood this lol

Anjel, if I understand the original and basic concept of procreation correctly, there would be few woman around without the male
species around here as well
. (Tom, I asked where would Indy be without a woman)
I do realize that in modern time this concept has been technologically
advanced, so is not a requirement today. But if you go back in
history.......you needed two to make the 6 billion, we have here today.

(exactly my point Tom, you needed a man and woman to make Indy)

With 51% of the 6 billion being women and only 49% being men.
Men are the minority. Women the majority. My question is.....why have not the majority done a better job at running the world? (ala Rev. Wright tactics)

Applying Rev. Wright's theology here. Women have brought us 9/11.....aids......KKK.....a disfunctional American society.....
policies in middle east that brought about terrorism and wars. Hey, you gals are the majority. Does not sound to me that you are doing a very good job at running things. The buck stops with the majority.

You say we were not doing this. We did not have a woman in the Presidency....a man was there. (ok, I must ask you, when did we have this argument? I dont remember saying these things, and I think you have me confused with someone else, eitherway, one thing is for sure, even with all of this, you, Tom, would NOT be here if it were not for your MOTHER and FATHER, and with that, my vote isnt for a women president, at least not the woman who is running now, it is for Obama, although, I think a woman could do the job just as effectively as a man. JMO. And speaking for my self, I LOVE men.)
