Baggage - don't talk about your past relationships, intimate details of your life, what your therapist says, your hopes and fears, your grocery list of what you want in a partner. Keep it light, simple, mysterious and the person won't be overwhelmed and may even be curious to know more about you.

I just changed the age range under "his basics" in my profile. Why?

Two things:

1. I was missing out by limiting the upper age range. Interesting men were not emailing me because they thought they were too old to interest me.

2. I'm reading this book "Cougar: A Guide For Older Women Dating Younger Men". The book is funny. Why not date younger men if they are willing?

I've changed my way of thinking! How about that?

I vote for afternoon, you know, kind of lunch hour recreation. Of course, then there's the evening during the movie on the couch action, and then there's the semi-conscious quickie when the alarm clock goes off in the morning. Well, I guess - what the question again??????

I once met a man - he was tall, dark, piercing blue eyes - what a hunk!!!!! But he could not read, smoked cigars in the bathtub and wanted to build a house and live in the capped foundation. he was great to look at....BUT!

The most unique experience I had is raising my youngest son. He was born premauturely, weighing only 1 pound 11 ounces. He's severely handicapped. I had never dealt with any handicapped people before and usually would not interact with them when I encountered them. Now I live life from the other side and I see how people look at the handicapped, how they stare, avoid and give help only to make themselves like they are doing someone a favor. It's been an amazing education. Keep doing those random acts of kindness, BeN21, they are what it's all about...

This statement I think assumes the other person wants to go, and the best you can do for YOURSELF is to say bye bye and not wait around for them to return.

I guess it depends what you call "Luck". I have met many nice people through emails on this site and others. Usually it goes no further than that. On the forum, I chat with a group, but it's only chatting.

I had one local guy who seemed interested, but after a month of chatting, he wanted me to drop in at his place and was not available when I suggested we meet at a public place.

I guess what slows all this down is distance - does the person live near enough or have the means to visit you? - and - does he have the incentive to step up and say "let's meet in person in a public place"?

And finally, it's luck and fishing - you just have to keep casting your line out there and hope that you get a bite!

Yep, remember when, at last call, guys would hang around the ladies room door and hit on any women who passed by? Looks or personality was not a factor....

Now let's get down to the most important point made on this thread - Doug should shave off his beard, so he can look younger and be perceived as younger AND feel younger! Shall we have a vote, ladies?
