jbibiza: Number 5 Not showing enough attention

Dates don't just organize themselves and relationships don't spring from nothing. You might think that if you hang back and play it cool she'll come to you. Well, this is one of the major ways guys blow it. Most of the time, you're going to have to make the first move and let her know that you're interested. Not showing enough attention can blow your chances before anything even happens, because if she's debating whether or not you like her, she's not going to want to waste her time with the effort of the unknown. Moral of the lesson here: You can either let her know you're interested or watch as she leaves with the guy who didn't blow it and showed enough attention to her.

Number 4 Closing her off

There's little point in pursuing a relationship, only to keep her locked out of the rest of your life entirely. Yet some guys do this, and it's one of the ways guys blow it. They might have found the perfect woman, but, for whatever reason, choose to keep her entirely separate from the rest of their lives. She never meets his buddies, work colleagues begin to think she's imaginary and she's always strangely absent from family events. It might take a while, but this situation will blow the relationship to bits. If she's decided to be with you, then it's about wanting more than just your great looks and sparkling personality; chances are, she actually wants to hear the embarrassing stories your friends tell, meet that annoying workmate and see all those baby pictures your mom's been storing for just such an occasion.

Number 3 Not taking charge

The only good thing ballroom dancing gave the world is this lesson: The man should lead. You'll often find that women try to dominate a relationship by laying down rules and setting boundaries. Letting her get away with this is a big mistake. As much as she thinks she wants a man to follow her every command, in the long run she won't respect you for it. If you're any kind of man, you won't respect yourself either. If you think she's playing dating games to gain some kind of power, call her on it straight away.

Number 2 Smothering her

One of the first things you should do is dispel the myth that the man has to constantly give the girl all his attention. Flooding her with phone calls, flowers and giving her endless reasons why she's amazing won't win her heart, only her disgust. Eventually, she'll tire of feeling like the object of your obsession. By all means, be romantic and make sure you treat her well. However, if she wanted a creature that followed her around giving her undivided attention, she'd have bought a Chihuahua. Put yourself first for a change and she'll respect you more for it.

Number 1 Staying in relationship limbo

The quickest, easiest and guaranteed way to blow it is to be in a relationship that isn't going anywhere. You might think that you're taking things steady and not being overeager, but if after six months you're stuck doing dinner and a movie and still don't know her mother's name, something isn't going right. At this point, it's only a matter of time before she starts looking for a guy to have a future with. Not that a relationship has to proceed in line with a timetable, far from it. It should always be moving forward, with the two of you sharing new experiences and learning more about each other. If you want things to work, she has to know that this is more than just something to fill up your spare time, that it's something real.

yay cheering.. about bloody time laugh..... what is it with the games.... you guys either want to be with us or not.. if you want to persistently treat us badly.. then maybe you should be batting for another team... smile

shipoker58: Homosexuality is a sin, and God hates it! God does love people (John 3:16); but not their sin (Psalm 97:10). We read in 2nd Peter 3:9 that God is "not willing that any should perish" but that "all should come to repentance." Bill Gaither has produced some of the world's most beautiful Gospel music; but unfortunately has sold out to the demonic Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) industry. In fact, he is one of it's leaders. Satan controls the CCM industry. This is clearly seen by the extensive use of New Age symbolism in CCM. Since the early 1990s, the Gaither's Homecoming CD and video series has dramatically increased the popularity of Southern Gospel music in this generation. He has promoted the unscriptural ecumenical movement with its bogus "judge not" philosophy and its lack of concern about doctrinal purity. In late 2002, Bill Gaither and Mark Lowry met with and encouraged Marsha Stevens, the lesbian author of the popular gospel song "For These Tears I Died." Stevens, who has a ministry called BALM (Born Again Lesbian Music), attended the Gaither Homecoming concert in Phoenix in December 2002, with her lesbian partner. Mark Lowry, who has sung with the Gaither Vocal Band for many years, approached her and said that he was proud of what she is doing. Surprised, she said, "You know what I'm doing now?" He replied: "I sure do and I wish the fundamentalist would find Jesus. They're going to have a lot to answer for, leaving out people that Jesus died for" (Marsha Stevens, New Years Eve 2002 with Bill Gaither," www.christiangays.com).
Can you believe what you are reading? This is so sickening! Christians all across America are listening to the music of a lesbian and don't even realize it! Even more tragic is that many professed "Christians" DO KNOW that Stevens is a lesbian, but don't care and listen to her music anyway. This is sinful.

"And if that isn't love.........."

It is common knowlege that we are to love the sinner but hate the sin.... this is all over the Bible especially in the new testament...

And God himself has chosen the MOST UNLIKELY of people to spread his work in the past... this is living and historical testimony that God is the only one that can Judge...

The composer of 'Amazing Grace' and very many other hyms was a 'wretch' before he found God.. or rather God found him..... and lets not forget Paul (Saul) he was a persecutor of Christians, and yet has been the most pure and influential contributer to the Bible that there has ever been... his understanding and devotion being complete...

It would not surprise me that the 'powers that be' try and supress so called 'Contemporary Christian Music'.... God is actively calling young people to his service, and contemporary music is one way that he can communicate to them...

Dunno.. really hate self righteousness of Churches... hate the sin.. not the sinner!!

Sommerauer71: Hi Aries...

Hi back...

I do have to say if I may that the 'kind' you are referring to, is a businessman, he lost his way, he lost everything.

Binge drinking, has been going on for many years, it has been given a name. I am a teacher, therefore I do not drink when I am due to go to work, at the weekends, I over do it, sometimes, I have a choice.

An addiction is a choice. You can say yes or no, and fight it. With help.

My friend, has lost so many friends, because they do not understand the disease, 'Just one, will not kill you' at dinner parties I hear. Erm? yes it will...

Some people think it is funny, give him a drink, amaing how because it is a legal substance that people view it so amusing. I watch people in London, go out each evening after work, quaff three or more bottles of wine to themselves each evening, they are not alcoholics, they can function the next day.

An alcoholic cannot.

I don't think our views are that different.. just the terminology... Alcoholism is an addiction and an illness... because the element of self control is taken away to a large degree.. and it is defined not by the quantity a person drinks or how often, but by the effect it has on their life.. if someone is drinking lots. sleeping with strangers, arguing, missing work, offending people, having blackouts, drinking excessively to the point of taking huge risks, then clearly its a problem..

Addictions are strange things, and are more about the make up of a person I think... like e.g. My younger Sis can totally take cigs or leave them.. I was a serious addict it was the first thing I did in the morning before I even had a cup of tea.. my sis who has been smoking for the same number of years might not smoke for weeks have one or five with a drink and go back to having none again.. has always been that way.. so clearly my addiction was more than just the substance itself or genetics.. phychology has a lot to do with it.. maybe even personality.. dunno... Just dam glad I am finally over them...

somechick: I haven't really gotten into the political arena/issues much but I feel the need to state my opinion here.

I feel the issues are what are important and will never go away, no matter who ends up being president. We should judge a candidate by how he/she plans to solve issues facing the nation, not by his/her sincerity or attempting to gauge how American he/she is.We are a sharpely divided country both politically and socially, because we have chosen to frustratingly call each other this terrible 10 letter word,"Un-American",often filling it with gunpowder by accusing one another of "aiding" terrorists through legitmate critizing of the Bush Administration's stratagy in the war on terrorism and justification for invading Iraq.

We've called each other misguided, ignorant, uncaring, cowardly, but most importantly "Un-American".In short, calling another citizen un-american in this day takes many forms, yet always packs the same devastingand nearly always untrue charge, which only serves to seperate us with lies and imaginary barriers.

"Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies gathered together to make war against the rider on the horse and his army. But the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who had performed the miraculous signs on his behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped his image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur. The rest of them were killed with the sword that came out of the mouth of the rider on the horse, and all the birds gorged themselves on their flesh."

The separate destinies of the Church and Israel, a belief which is inherent in dispensationalism is a particular concern to some Jews and to some evangelical Christians. Evangelicals who reject dispensationalism, such as those who hold to a Post Tribulation Rapture, (or more accurately a Post Tribulation Resurrection-Rapture), see both the Church and Israel entering the crucible of the End Time together. These Traditional Pre-Millennialists, as they are called, reject dispensationalism and its end time eschatology as setting forth a dubious eschatology of an "apartheid of the Elect". They consider the dispensationalist doctrine of a Pre-Tribulation Rapture to be self-serving and highly unlikely to be the true last days policy of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Traditional Pre-Millennialists see all the covenant people of the God of Israel being refined together in the crucible of the end time. They also see the "royal priesthood and holy nation" referred to by Moses and by the Apostle Peter being unveiled in the Apocalypse as a single remnant Elect drawn out from Israel and from the wider Church in the nations.

Just to many coinidences to completely ignore... sigh

The Antichrist, (it is believed), will take center-attention on the 'world-stage' initially as a global peacemaker which Daniel mentions in Daniel 9:27. This coming prince will enter into a covenant or treaty with Israel for a period of seven years. Perhaps using global disarmament, he will promise to ensure peace in the world after a particularly destructive future war (this future war being a belief of post-tribulationists; not of Dispensationalists). His ally in world leadership will be the Whore of Babylon who is seen in vision by John, recorded in Revelation 17. John saw this mysterious harlot actually riding the beast and exerting some sort of control over it for a period of time. This mother-harlot entity heads up an apostate church or global system of false religion, which includes other, less influential churches.

At the midpoint of the final seven years, a world ravaged by plague and turmoil turns to the Antichrist to lead it. Their hope is that a world dictator will promise "peace and safety" and he will usher in a new age. The Antichrist, however, is possessed directly by Satan and will eventually display his true intentions. Again, in Daniel 9:27, the prophet states that at this time this "prince" will stop the daily sacrifices, (which had been resumed again on the Temple Mount). He then commits an appalling sacrilege not unlike the outrages of the Greek Seleucid ruler Antiochus IV Epiphanes. Now fully revealed as the Beast, the Antichrist assumes global dictatorial rule and establishes his economic system based upon the mark of '666'. His persecutions of newly-converted Christians, as well as Jewish people at that time will be unprecedented. This three and a half year period of intense tribulation was referred to by the prophets Ezekiel, Jeremiah, Joel, Daniel and other biblical prophets throughout the Old and New Testament writings. It was also spoken of by Jesus Christ in the Olivet Discourse and The Sheep and the Goats. In Revelation 13, the Apostle John sets the duration of this 'time of trouble' to 42 biblical months, or three and one-half years. This period is referred to by Biblical eschatologists as the "Great Tribulation". The period also coincides with the time of "Jacob's trouble" mentioned in the book of Jeremiah, and the trampling down of Jerusalem is referred to by John in Revelation Chapter 11.

Eventually, the Antichrist, under the threat of approaching 'kings of the east', commands his armies to attack this Asian threat. This campaign takes place in the valley of Megiddo, which according to the book of Revelation is the place known for the approaching Battle of Armageddon. The valley of Megiddo is situated as a great plain located northwest of Israel. At the climax of the story, Jesus returns in the Second Coming. He destroys the armies gathering for the campaign against Jerusalem. To quote the NIV version of Revelation 19:19-21:

Dispensationalist prophecies
Main article: Dispensationalism
The reestablishment of Israel in 1948 provided a major impetus to the dispensationalist belief system. Israel's history of wars after 1948 with its Arab neighbors provided further research as was seen in at least one book by John F. Walvoord. After the Six Day War in 1967, and the Yom Kippur War in 1973, it seemed plausible to many Fundamentalist Christians in the 1970s that Middle East turmoil may well be leading up to the fulfillment of various Bible prophecies and to the Battle of Armageddon.

Leaders of the dispensationalist movement such as Hal Lindsey, J. Dwight Pentecost, John Walvoord, all of whom have Dallas Theological Seminary backgrounds, and some other writers, claimed further that the European Economic Community founded on the Treaty of Rome was a revived Roman Empire, and would become the kingdom of the coming Antichrist and the Beast. A revived Roman Empire also figured into the New Testament writers' vision of the future. The fact that in the early 1970s, there were (erroneously thought to be) seven nations in the European Economic Community was held to be significant; this aligned the Community with a seven headed beast mentioned in Revelation. This specific prophecy has required revision, but the idea of a revived Roman Empire remains. It is thought that it would be formed when the European Union becomes a single nation and emerges as a superpower. Under this thinking, the Antichrist will probably either be the President of the European Union or the president of its successor, probably a united Europe.

On 1 June 2000, Israel became an Associate Member of the European Union. This agreement was negotiated in 1995. This associate membership allows Israel to cooperate with Europe in industry, trade, transportation, communication, and energy usage. Israel is now officially linked to the so-called Revived Roman Empire. It is claimed that this associate membership of Israel with Europe establishes the relationship that Israel will have with the Antichrist.

The Beast (Antichrist) is believed to be the dictatorial leader of a "one world government." He would promise peace to the world while leading the world's population into apostasy, and impose a "one world money system" based on the number 666.

To quote Revelation 13, verses 16-18 (NIV):

"He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name. This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man's number. His number is 666."

Thus, with this understanding, it was and is believed that everyone, in order to enter into this economic system, had to have the Number of the Beast some kind of mark branded on them. This created speculation as to the nature of the mark. One theory has a computer chip such as an integrated circuit being inserted or injected via hypodermic needle under the skin, perhaps a transponder, see also Microchip implant (human). As with the Roman emperors of ancient times, he would impose martyrdoms on those refusing to take this mark. At some point after his appearance, a large number of Jews would convert to Christianity and preach the gospel after the Christians had been removed by the Rapture.

Some believers in this theory began reading the newspaper headlines, concerned that some world leader might have the prophesied characteristics to be the Antichrist, and wondering whether the continuing Mid-East violence might be a sign of impending Armageddon. They were also concerned with such things as Social Security numbers and UPC barcodes, concerned that these tax identification numbers may be precursors to the Number of the Beast. The acceptance of this mark would mean that one's soul would receive judgment by damnation.

Sommerauer71: Aries

Thank you for your insightful post.

Alcoholism is different from an addiction to say, nicotine...

Alcoholism can be genetic, not exclusively. An addict can quickly become an alcoholic.

There are no replacements for alcohol like there are heroin. Or patches, or gum.

An addiction is dangerous, can lead to diseases that are debillitating...

But alcoholism is something that is a disease, not an addiction.

No drinking buddy told me this, a person who has lived with it, lost his son, been in jail, is now on a program with blood tests each week, so that he is not back in the slammer, where he is at risk, of having a drink, I have seen it, watched it and studied it.

Death would come quickly and easily to him, but he gets on with life, seeing his son once every two weeks under supervision, after the results of blood tests.

Abstaining for him, means he gets to live, this is not an addiction, he is in remission. For life. If he manages to stay off the drink, one glass of wine means he will lose everything. He will go off the rails, he will drive his car, that he is not allowed to drive, he would kill himself.

I have watched it for seven years, addiction? No. It is a life threatening illness.

Hiya.. I know the kind... I have met a number of different types of Alcoholics.. my friend was the binge drinking type who used to spend an absolute fortune and end up in very risky situations.. he is gay so at a number of different intervals he could have taken his own life into his hands... he feels very grateful to God that he is still alive... I have worked with the type that ur friend seems to be.. and yes..they are literally drinking themselves to death.. one of my client's..looks like the walking dead and just can't help it.. to him cutting down would be just havin one bottle of vodka... sigh... is sooo sad, and we are soo powerless they have to sort it out themselves..

thumbs up... true.. we like to think that we can mess around with this kind of stuff and not get burned... not true ... someone always gets burned....

Saw a doc recently on Polygamous marriages.. the intention of the programme was to show the world that it was all A-Ok and everyone was happy... not the impression I got at all, in particular the women were miserable and lonely and felt underappreciated.. the men typically were controlling manipulative and clearly thought they were getting a great deal and all was rosy.... now while it was just one documentary showing only a portion of the truth... to me it is a strong indicator that messin with nature and trying to re-invent the rules... just doesn't work.. we are humans.. .we have feelings... and yes we can get hurt...

Alcoholism is both an illness and an addiction.... I have a close friend who is one and he explained it all to me.... the main feature of 'alcololism' is that it controls you rather than you it, it comes before other things including family and responsibility and it ultimately causes distruction in your life... not always dramatic.. sometimes is just ur finances...

Addicts have to abstain... that is the only way that an addiction will be kept in check..... I know this as an ex-smoker..... If I have one cigarette, it will be a downward spiral, not in an instant dramatic way but in an incidious way...

Seriously I do not know who was telling you this stuff.... perhaps a drinking buddy.. but it is not entirely accurate...

As to relationships when in recovery.... bad idea until at least one year after... recovering addicts can very easily become co=dependant with inflated expectations, and some will almost WILL chaos as a viable excuse to go back on the bottle...

rusty_knight: Real Wealth is made up of two very real things:

1.) Things that you can see and touch and have been created by the sweat and toil of labour.........for example if you have built and own your own house (you might not being able to sell, it but so what - you can live in it, can't you?).

2.) The internal wealth that makes up an individual - the store of learning and wisdom from education and life experiences and the ability to not only survive but make positive changes for both the benefit of the individual, his/her family and the community at large.

REAL WEALTH CANNOT DISAPPEAR LIKE FINANCIAL 'PAPER' FLUSHED DOWN THE TOILET!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thats a really good point Rusty...

I was chatting to a senior Barrister recently (really lovely guy) about the current down turn, which has been experienced at the Bar for some time because of fundamental changes in how things are done etc..... and his answer was so refreshing and inspiring to me.. he said.... I don't really care what happens, I have a roof over my head, I have my family and I have my wife who I still love after 30 years of marriage...
