No I just thought it rather surprising that a public posting was thought necessary to admonish a person who is of previous good character for saying some 'curse words'... balancing involves measuring items of equal/similar persuasion and weight... clearly murder or racist abuse is not in the same league as a couple of curse words.. dunno even as a Christian with a duty (as Chereokee says) to strive to be like Jesus... I just wouldn't be quick to publically point out someone else's flaws where it was a once off... if someone was persistently rude, or arrogant, or abusive to posters or etc... then I would ...I don't even know him as a friend or anything...but it seems to me that MikeHD despite considerable debate and opposition at times.. still remains nice and friendly and restrained..(an admirable trait in my book) so he was having a bad day or whatever... I didn't like the impression I got which was that everyone, including his Christian so called supporters.. were quick to react in a negative way to this slightly out of character move.... I expect it of course from his adversaries... but not his own team..

Anyhoooo have said what I wanted to say... people can agree or disagree with it.... cool by me grin wave

If you thing a public 'admonishment' on an open forum was fair...in circumstances where it was clearly out of character... then you go ahead yes you are a free agent...wave

The post was for the Swiss guy can never remember his name... anyway... Free Speach absolutely!!!! wouldn't have it any other way.. how ever, one has to be discerning because at the end of the day there is an Art in redirecting the Public from the real issues... these Press Officers don't charge big bucks for nuthin wink... if we knew more about the 'real' issues, we might have expectations.. dangerous laugh.. nah just saying that Political Campaigns tend to turn into mud slinging matches... and the trouble with mud is it tends to dirty up what its sticks to making it difficult to see whats really underneath...

Just sayin.... who do u think will win anyway?... kinda lost track there

"The Obama campaign is asking law enforcement in Missouri to target anyone who "lies or runs a misleading TV ad" during the campaign. Prosecutors and sheriffs, at the request of the Obama campaign, are jumping on board to "keep the truth" and remind people that Obama is a Christian who wants to cut taxes for everyone making under $250,000 a year. But they will also "respond" to any statements that violate Missouri ethics laws.
Missouri Governor Matt Blunt has responded to Barack Obama's "abusive use of Missouri law enforcement." Here's a quote from the governor:

"This abuse of the law for intimidation insults the most sacred principles and ideals of Jefferson. "

My response was to the above....

1. dont see the problem of taking issue with lies or untruths... the truth is easy to defend as it can normally be substantiated....

2. why so much credence to these dirt throwing exercises...

I don't know why you feel the need to defend your actions... Most of what I was saying was in relation to Mike and the empathy I have for the Thread he posted... wasn't politically correct perhaps, but I can understand why he did... and p.s. we are all sinners... being a Christian does not absolve us from the fact that we will continue to sin.. gossip say for example or a white lie ///or a biggie the sin of pride or vanity the list goes on..... we probably sin every day in some small way... being a Christian does make it easier on some levels but it also makes it harder on others because the bar is raised so high....

this is why I think it is important not to slip too easily into self righteous mode.... even Jesus' actions were judgeg by the Pharisees who were avid readers and observers of Scripture... in fact they admonished him (Gospel of Mark) when he dared to heal a man on the Sabbath, which under the Jewish Law was a day of rest... Jesus did not respect the Pharisees, he called them hypocrites, despite the fact that they were obedient Religious men.... Yes I agree with you... Read the Word, Live the word, but also very simply love others as yourself....

The reason I said what I said is because I noticed that there was a rash of negative comments mounted against Mike on this one rare occassion where he actually lost the Rag.... I decided to say something in support of him..... I know he didn't need me to... he is more than competent to speak for himself, but I did so anyway...

I also noted with some level of curiosity that not only were the usual suspects posting against him... but his Christian Sister also... if you didn't like the curse... send him a private mail...

K... he is asking that individuals who 'lie or mislead' be legally restrained... I don't see how this is such and abuse of Civil Rights... if said campaigns are honest and have integrity, I really don't see that as being a problem as presumably truth can be justified and substantiated quite easily by means of evidential proof... lies on the otherhand are very easily undermined... by means of lack of evidential proof...

Stand back a little.. the newspapers are not interested in informing people, nor are the Press Officers of the respective campaigns... there concern only, is off drawing negative attention on their opponent... what you should be look at and evaluating is their actual campaign promises (whether they are realistic or achievable) and their past performance politically.... for e.g.... there aint nobody gonna be able to work miracles in ur budget, u r a country in financial crisis.. in fact it would be HIGHLY irresponsible to introduce tax cuts at a time like this.... Hiya Kid and Healthy..... as with everything.. a balance has to be achieved... there is no doubt that there were other issues involved in that awful situation... clearly he was a nasty control freak... and was deeply jealous of the relationship you had with God... what a NASTY situation to find yourself in... thank God you got out of it.. .was this recent??.. I hope you got a chance to get over it...

As regards unequally yolked... practically speaking it does make sense that when two people get together that they are capable (at the very least) of supporting each other in the fundamental things that are of value to them... one of these things for me if my faith in God.. another would be the fact that I definitely want children... these are two things that go to the core of my being.. lesser but also important would be the fact that I am a creative and intelligent person and I do better (am more myself) in an environment where these aspects of me are not neglected.. and then of course there are things such as chemistry, sense of humour all these other important things that one bases a choice of partner on...

The first in the list are the fundamentals.. faith and something like kids belong in that category.... there inlies the potential difficulties that can arise.. if someone was rigidly opposed to another persons view.... fireworks.. if someone was open and genuinely supportive of anothers views.. possibility for compromise.. however if someone shared and enjoyed and was equally passionate about the others views.. well then thats just a match made in heaven smitten smile... so while I wouldn't say NO to compromise.. I would say NO to someone who clearly would never be able to understand this fundamental thing about me

Of course you would be able to share your thoughts with the person you love if someone truly loves you they will make the effort to understand and accept you point of view

That implie's that the person you marry will have all the answers

Cmon.... do you think it would make a darned bit of difference... to yours or indeed my view... laugh.....

We are literally polar opposites on complete opposite sides of the spectrum of beliefs.. I believe in pretty much all that the Bible has said.. athiests believe in none of it....

Yes it is... and like you I hate organised Religion.... so that is some common ground that we have.... the thing is you have to be responsible...not only to yourself but others...I mean its fairly obvious that I have a very strong belief in God.... so dunno just would be fearful of how (in the long term) two people would gel when their belief systems are so polar opposite... I don't mind if someone is open to believing in God.. but someone... say and athiest who is completely closed off to the concept altogether would drive me nuts!!... u can just imagine laugh... ha ha.. me and Crotulus.. there would be prison sentences and all sorts laugh...

There are lots of people out there who are like seeds planted on fresh soil which have potential to grow once, they completely disassociate themselves with doctrinal Religion and all the PR damage it has done to Gods name....

But there are those seeds that have landed on concrete... sigh

When you talk about being open do you mean open to being converted ??
Or just willing to participate in things that are important to you , ie . Church events , charitable work ect???

I am devout in that I go to Church every Sunday, Childrens Ministries (once a month)am part of the worship team and want to get involved in pastoral services to the Community when the Church gets its new building.... I also pray regularly and read the Bible nearly every day... and while alot of my needs in that regard are met by Church involvement and my friends from the Church... going home to an Athiest would be horrible... I wouldn't be able to share my thoughts on things etc or ask questions (where I was uncertain)...

Ha ha.. .I have just RUINED my chances of ever meeting anyone on this site laugh... but thats the truth... I don't think on a fundamental level I could properly fall in love with someone who didn't believe in God.. because such a huge chunk of what I would need to identify with in a person would be missing..

Having said that.. as long as someone was 'open' to Christianity then I wouldn't mind evolving with that person...

One of the girls in my church married a non Christian guy who is now the most inspired convert I think I have ever witnessed laugh... seriously you would have to see it to believe it.. .they were married for about 25 years 4 kids and he just didn't want any of it.. they didn't argue per se and he did believe in God.. he just felt the need to do things in his own time and on his own terms.. through his own process of searching he has reached his own conclusion which is that Jesus is his saviour... so not impossible....as long as someone is open

It also says not to judge.. in fact in a way that is more important, cause lets face it.. its not a straight walk being a Christian... lots of twists and turns and pebbles, rocks and even the occassional boulder to knock us over... I for one have used 'curse words' I have apologised and they are a LOT less frequent... but never the less... none of us can cast the first stone.... also I admire Mikes struggle to get the truth out there... it may be in vain... sure... and it may be frustrating.....SURE!! but he is giving his view... plenty views to go around... EVERY ONE gets their say here laugh.. whether any of us like it or not laugh... anyway..... sorry for the long winded smile... what I am trying to say is that being a Christian does not mean we have to be silent lambs all the time... Righteous anger (when couple with a forgiving heart) is ok... Jesus lost his rag from time to time (remember the Temple) and I have to empathise with Mike... the insults some people fling at the Father (our Father) sometimes makes my blood boil laugh

I see the point you are trying to make Phil....noted laugh..... I was responding to a specific point.... your man was saying that God blocks out our light.... I responded with something which was based on scripture (Jesus words are more reliable).... far from wanting to 'block' out our light... he wants us to shine like Beacons into the world... Religion however.. very much wants to counter this... because its leader does want the light for themselves...
