A resolute no I am afraid... I know that seems a little harsh.. but the reality is the differences in fundamental outlook would be so great as to be devoid of any common ground.... can you imagine the arguments???.. it might be kinda fun at first, challenging and all but I really wouldn't like a life time of it.. and seeing as when I marry it will be for life.. a realistic choice of partner is adviseable laugh

Mike I am curious about something,I am a born again christian. My Bible reads to keep ur conversation Holy.Do u believe that Jesus used the curse words ur using in this thread?

It also says not to judge.. in fact in a way that is more important, cause lets face it.. its not a straight walk being a Christian... lots of twists and turns and pebbles, rocks and even the occassional boulder to knock us over... I for one have used 'curse words' I have apologised and they are a LOT less frequent... but never the less... none of us can cast the first stone.... also I admire Mikes struggle to get the truth out there... it may be in vain... sure... and it may be frustrating.....SURE!! but he is giving his view... plenty views to go around... EVERY ONE gets their say here laugh.. whether any of us like it or not laugh... anyway..... sorry for the long winded smile... what I am trying to say is that being a Christian does not mean we have to be silent lambs all the time... Righteous anger (when couple with a forgiving heart) is ok... Jesus lost his rag from time to time (remember the Temple) and I have to empathise with Mike... the insults some people fling at the Father (our Father) sometimes makes my blood boil laugh

hug

I see the point you are trying to make Phil....noted laugh..... I was responding to a specific point.... your man was saying that God blocks out our light.... I responded with something which was based on scripture (Jesus words are more reliable).... far from wanting to 'block' out our light... he wants us to shine like Beacons into the world... Religion however.. very much wants to counter this... because its leader does want the light for themselves...

confused... and I always thought that Buddism was a harmless if even a little enlightened as a philosophy....

As for inflecting light.... Jesus said that we (his children) are to go into world as beacons of light and shed light into every dark corner.... he is the light within us that will illuminate our path and show us the way.... we should be able to know our brothers by the light that emanates from them and the abundance of their fruit....

Truth is a revelation that will fill you up and illuminate your path....... the longer we avoid the truth the longer we will remain in darkness.. and the longer we remain in darkness the longer we will continue going around in circles and bumping into things... JMV... mankind without God.... just doesn't work.....

How can you be a soul? This is the question I have been asking you? Without a mind to process the information and without a body to experience that information, a soul/energy is useless to your being a you. It simply becomes non local energy that will be used by some other localised being, a plant or an ant or magnet, whatever requires some energy at the time.

our soul/spirit is like our 'creative' energy most people acknowledge (contingent on their belief in 'soul') that things such as music and are and poetry etc derive from soul.... would seem a bit pointless for that level of creative energy being transposed to a flea... nothing against fleas per se.... but can imagine one writing a symphony confused... smile wave

lets assume for a minute, for our purpose that this soul is entity and I certainly beleive it is energy, a very proveable entity; but, we can even for you just say its some ghost, holy ghost if you like.

if this entity has its own information, its own abiltity to decide and choose course then you have just lost free will, yes?

Energy or holy ghost, soul, aura, spirit, whatever name you give it is not a cognizant entity. Its just energy. It responds according to the laws of physics and physical dynamics, providing life to bodies and in our case minds. Once the body dies, there is for you, no more cognizance, no more awareness, no more experience because the physical entity(body/ mind) that processes that energy is gone.

The energy will live on, because energy cant be created or destroyed but your 'percieved' presence will not. Presence depends on living cell structure,- awareness/consciouness depends on higher brain functions. Lose them and you no longer exist. local or non local.

Any time I have received a subconcious word from this 'Holy Ghost' it has been recognisable as external, but nevertheless gentle and not at all complelling... and when I have a vision (not very often... only a small handful of times) it is hardly recognisable as distinct from a day dream but for the fact that it re-occurs with increased clarity.. that last proper vision I had predicted my friends baby(including sex)... nobody knew.. she was rather shocked and I was afraid to tell her of my vision because she had suffered a miscarraige previously and I did not want to upset her... anyway that vision was the most vivid and persistent that I had experienced... but I still had the choice.... I chose to take the risk of telling her, because I felt it was intended as a word of comfort to reassure her that everything would be ok...and so far everything is thank God... she is due to have her first child after 10 years of marriage (a girl) in Late Nov/Early Dec... and her latest check up revealed that both baby and mum are in top health thanks be to God

umm no we weren't, you decided to go somewhere else and not answer the question...actually we were talking about 'informed energy' (your assertion) on it's own, non local remember? How can a non local spirit/energy experience information without a body or a mind to be cognizant of it?

it may be that the spirit is localised, but because it operates on a far superior plane to that of the body, mind or brain that it can commuicate with other localised spirits which all tap into an ultimate omnipresent source...

mind = perception
physical brain = information processor
Spirit/Soul = elevated extra physical and extra sensory..... that kind of thing??

Reeeaally good attitude I wish I could share it... to be very honest, I find it a little frustrating and hard to get my head around some times... I won't 'not like' someone because of it.. but I do have difficulties getting my head around it...

I have had unwaivering belief since I was a young child... despite not having ANY real religious instruction at home.. and I too used to virtually fall asleep on the rare occassions we went to church (which was when we absolutely HAD to laugh)... I have just always known, and felt his presence..

But u r absolutely right.. everyone should be loved and respected for the person they are... their beliefs are their own...

cheers
